Edge Extra Moisturizing Shave Gel: A Step Down From the Best

3

Much like my review for Nivea for Men's shaving gel and Edge's Advanced Shaving Gel with Aloe, my view of Edge's Extra Moisturizing Shave Gel is colored not so much by the product itself, but by the canister that it comes in. I would put it on a slightly lower level in terms of its scent, its sensitivity on my skin, and its effectiveness in terms of giving me a close shave. I still would say its ability as a shaving product is still quite satisfactory, but, much like the previous shaving products mentioned at the start of my review, the disappointment comes from the canister that the gel comes in: the button that one presses down in order to receive the gel becomes stuck easily if pressed down on too hard, and one ends up with a canister full of good quality shaving gel, and yet a packaging that seems to prevent the consumer from partaking in the goods contained therein. If I were to impart final judgement on the product to the consumers, I would give a recommendation to the gel itself, but a "buyer beware" warning for the canister.

Edge Extra Moisturizing, for an Easy Shave

4

I have a few brands of shaving gel/cream I tend to stick with. In fact, I use an electric razor many days and only turn to the shaving gel/cream for touch- ups, so I don't use my shaving gel or cream on a daily basis. But when I do, one of my brands of choice is Edge and one of its many good, quality products is **Edge Extra Moisturizing Shave Gel.** **Shaving Gel Facts and Commentary:** Edge Extra Moisturizing Shave Gel is a blue- colored gel with a scent that leans toward the masculine side, but not so far that women will avoid using it. The gel holds together well, maintaining its consistency, then gradually turns to white foam as it is spread around the face. The gel helps to lubricate the skin better than regular shaving creams, making shaving less irritating. Edge Extra Moisturizing Shave Gel is a good product from Edge- one of a handful of companies I can always count on for quality products. This particular style is good for softening facial hair, lubricating, and making shaving less irritating. The use of the word "extra" might be a little exaggerated, but the product does help to moisturize and helps the blades glide across the skin more easily, for a better shave. **Bottom Line Viewpoint:** Edge is one of my favorite shaving gels and its Edge Extra Moisturizing Shave Gel rates as yet another quality product in the Edge catalog. It is priced reasonably and makes shaving easy, earning it an easy recommendation.

Edge Shave Gel - nothing special but gets the job done

4

When it comes to shave gels, I'm not too picky. I prefer gel to foam, but I'm not at all particular about brand, scent, color, or whether it's for men or women. So when I found Edge Extra Moisturizing Shave Gel on sale big time, I bought a can to give it a try. Edge Extra Moisturizing Shave Gel works pretty well for me. I can control the amount of gel that comes out of the can, it's a nice blue color and smells nice (not too many but not feminine either, just a clean scent). But I don't really see the "extra moisturizing" aspect of the product. My legs feel just clean and a little dry as it's winter time right now, but my legs always feel this way after showering and shaving, regardless of the shaving product I use. So this product is just like any other. Nothing special, but it gets the job done.

Edge shave gel my wonderful daily friend:)

I just wrote a review on my Razor, and came to see what people had said about my shaving gel, and I thought it was unreasonable what people where rating it! Claiming that it made their legs feel rough and wasn't providing a complete shave. It has always been my friend each morning as I shave! I suffer from mild acne and shaving could be really difficult some mornings, but since using this gel and my fusion razor I don't mind it so much, and even enjoy the feel! It also hasn't caused any breakouts!(a huge plus to me) To make a simple list of positives the gel gives me all the foam I need, and a bottle might last over 200 shaves! It's nice foam and doesn't make my skin itchy or burning. To me there isn't a negative to this product! I think it's important to remember its shaving cream not moisturizer! The bottle talks about the moisturizing effect and if you compare it to other creams you'll see the positive difference. The shaving process is hard on skin, and many people have a hard time with it, I would try a new razor if you're having trouble. Or even Google advice on how to shave. The gel is only there to make the experience smoother and I think everyone can agree it does an awesome job with that!

Edge shaving gel. Just an average shave!

I have been shaving with nothing else but Edge for almost seven years now. I remember when I would shave I felt like a new person. I still get that satisfaction and this gel smells really good to me. They have a variety of different shaving gels to use depending on your skin type. There's a sensitive gel, a gel for moisterizing, and some other different types. \For some reason, I would always shave and miss a couple of spots thinking, "But how can that be." When I shave I don't rush at all so for me to not get a completely close shave where seemed kind of weird. My cousin told me that maybe I ought to try shaving cream. This guy has been shaving way longer than me so I know he knows what he's talking about. This Edge shaving gel is good but I guess for my face it isnt. I give this product a 2 star rating. The power of persistance huh? I'm glad there are people like my cousin out there to put me on to the real. I can stop nicking the crap out of my face now!

I'm writting a review about the Edge Extra Moisturizing Shave gel. My husband has tried several different kinds of shaving creams and gels and always comes back to the edge products of shave gel. He has toshave every day and finds that if and when he used the edge products that he gets a closer and a smoother shave. We also have 2 sons that also would rather used the edge gel products as well and they like the sensitive face gel the best. I only have experienced 1 problem with the product. The biggest problem that we have found is that the I believe it is the bottom pressure seal on the can has either lost it's pressure or it has ruptured. When this happens the shaving gel goes all over the place ( in our medicine cabinent) and after this occurs we are not able to use the remainder of the shaving gel because the entire can has lost it's pressure and does not work for us any more. Other than that all of the men in my family perfer to use edge gel shaving products and I would reccomend them highly.

I like it

I hate shaving.  I wait until I have to shave for work.  The gel shaving cream is far superior to the foam shaving cream.  The shaving gel  is much easier to apply and is not as messy as the foam shaving cream.  The foam shaving cream is cheaper, but I think the gel is worth the extra cost for the above reasons.  I grocery shop online with Peapod.  I have only seen two types of gel shaving creams sold on Peapod.  They are the Edge and Gillette shaving gelss.  Each brand has several different types of shaving gels.  The Edge shaving gels are about fifty cents a can cheaper than the Gillette shaving gels.  I have never tried the Gillette shaving gels since I am happy with Edge gel.  I like how easy the gel is to apply.  It deffinately helps me shave a couple of days growth.  Its fells like it has moisturized my skin after finishing shaving.   I can not remember the last time I cut my face shaving.

This gave me the worst shave I have ever experienced.

The other day I was taking a shower and noticed that the shave cream I was using, wasn't in the shower where it normally is.  It dawned on me that it was sitting on my dining room table waiting for me to review it here on Viewpoints.  Since I shave my legs everyday and I didn't feel like dripping to the dining room, I just decided to use my husbands shaving cream: **Edge Extra Moisturizing Shave Gel**. Now, I do know that this product is marketed towards men, but just because I am a woman shaving her legs with it, doesn't mean that it should work any differently.  Actually, my leg hair is soft and not coarse like men's facial hair.  **Edge Extra Moisturizing Shave Gel **claims to: - Contain vitamin E to leave your face smooth and moisturized - Have cooling conditioners that leave your face feeling refreshed - Have special moisturizers and lubricants that provide unbeatable razor glide **My Experience** I squirted the gel into my hand and then lathered it onto my legs.  The gel turned into foam right before my eyes.  My razor glided over my legs nicely and I experienced no cuts or scrapes.  So far, so good.  A little later in the day (after applying lotion to my legs), I ran my hand down my legs for a feel.  They felt dry, unsmooth and in desperate need of moisture.  My legs have never felt so rough from a shaving cream before.  Normally after using either [Skindecent Sphynx Shaving Cream][1] or [Alba Moisturizing Cream Shave][2] , my legs are soft all day long.  Not with Edge.  If this one is "extra moisturizing" I don't want to know what regular feels like. In addition to the poor results I experienced from **Edge Extra Moisturizing Shave Gel, **I am not satisfied with the ingredients either.  It contains two different kinds of acids and only sunflower seed oil glyceride, glycerin and vitamin E for moisturizing ingredients.  I would not buy this for myself, but my husband seems to like it for shaving his head and face.   [1]: http://www.viewpoints.com/Skindecent-Sphynx-Shaving-Cream-Pina-Colada-review-ff8b7 [2]: http://www.viewpoints.com/Alba-Papaya-Mango-Moisturizing-Cream-Shave-review-a47c
