Eden Pure Quartz Infrared Model 1000XL Heater — 

Our family purchased an Eden Pure for $400.  Our mistake was not doing research on the product.  There are many reviews that show what we found out for ourselves.  It worked fine for the first two days when the temperature outside was 40 + degrees, after that the temperature dropped and the heater could not keep up, and we ended up using the furnace.  The whole point to buying this was so we wouldn't have to use the furnace.  The heater ran 24hrs a day and never shut off.  It is basically an overpriced electric space heater.  We never checked out if we would have saved any money but I am not certain that having this heater run around 700 hours a month would pay for itself in even two winters.  We have another electric heater that we spent around $15 on and it does the same thing as the Eden Pure.  The only good thing about the Eden Pure is that the exterior does not get hot.  If you do buy one make sure and get it from a store where you can return it directly to them, not having to ship it anywhere.  From what I have read on reviews I would not reccommend buying them from a door to door sales person or truckload sale.   We bought ours at ACE Hardware.  I decided I did not want it, because it did not function as advertised, so I repackaged it within their 30 days and drove it back to ACE Hardware and they took it back refunded my money no questions asked.  I turend around and bought a 7 day progamable thermostat for the furnace at Mendards.  I set the temperature at 60 degrees for nearly the entire day from the time we sleep to the time we are at work.  From what I have read doing that will prove to be as effective as purchasing a Eden Pure.  In the end $400+ is a lot to spend on a space heater.  Do your reseach, read the reviews and let them speak for themsleves, in regards to breaking down, effectiveness, etc.
