Eddie and the Cruisers is a 1983 movie that is about a fictional band. It is set in the 1960's. It is about a television reporter who is investigating the mysterious death of Eddie Wilson (MIchael Pare) and the bands second album that disappeared after Eddie's death.

The movie shows how the band played together, and hung out together. It shows the way they were making a name for their self playing in New Jersey. At a bar in New Jersey is where they meet Frank (Tom Berenger) whom Eddie hires to be the keyboard player and the lyricist for the band. Eddie gives Frank the nickname of "Wordman".

With the help of Wordman, the band stops playing cover songs and releases a album,"Tender Years" of their own songs. It is a major hit especially the song, "On the Dark Side". Over the next year the band works on their next album,"A Season in Hell", but Eddie has a lot of creative differences with the rest of the band and his manager and this causes  problems for the band.

The second album is finished but the record company rejects the album, they think it is too dark and controversial for it to be any kind of a hit. The next morning after the record company has refused to publish the album, Eddie's car crashes through a railing, and his body is never found, but he is presumed dead.

Then 20 years later, their first album is released again. This brings back good and bad memories to the band members of their time together and the way they all felt about Eddie.Someone  starts to make it look like Eddie is alive with haunting his ex-girlfriend with the songs they use to like to listen to so long ago. They find out that it is someone that was from their past, that just wants to scare her so that she will give up where the lost album is at, if she knows where it may be..It is the band manager they had when the band was together.

At the end of the movie it shows on a television in a store window the reporters story with a crowd watching the report. It has a song from the lost album playing as the credits role on the report. As the people start to walk away from the store front, there is only one person left in front of the window. The reflection shows that it is Eddie, he's older, he smiles, and is happy to see that all his musical talent that was so misunderstood those years before is appreciated finally.....and Eddie Wilson just walks away...........................

This movie has a great sound track too, lots of good music. It has great actors/actresses too. It is based on the novel by P.F. Kluge. It has a PG rating. If you like 60's music and a great story line this is a great movie to watch..

Also, there is a second part to it, it is called, "Eddie and the Cruisers II: Eddie Lives" It was made in 1989. It tells the rest of his story.. it's a great movie too!! With either movie you can't go wrong with the music, and the story, you won't be disappointed!
