Okay, so I was aware of Glen or Glenda? and Plan 9 from Outer Space for years because of my fascination with cult cinema, but hadn't actually watched them until after I finally watched Tim Burton's biopic Ed Wood, which immediately became one of my favorite films of all time.

Ed loved film and had so much passion for the silver screen that it was necessary to make films. And no matter what critics though, he apparently seemed to think his films were masterpieces. I do admire the fact that he was so enthusiastic about movie making.  With a short schedule and next to no budget, he made do with what he had. With stilted dialogue, narratives that sound like they came straight from the '50's sex ed films, a leading lady that sounded like she was reading her lines, and, of course, the aged Bela Lugosi, Wood became a cult hero instead of a revered director. Not that he hasn't won awards--after all he did receive a Golden Turkey for being the worst director in history.

With all that aside, I do find his earlier films amusing and interesting in their own rights.  While they are pretty bad, for strange people like me, the badness makes the movies funny.
