Eat This Not That! —

Sure, I love reading fiction, and I honestly didn't pick this book up thinking about "reading" but about saving myself some time trying to figure out  what our family should and shouldn't be eating. With the book Eat This Not That I can find out how to make better choices for myself and my family while dining out, cooking at home and even packing lunches.

This book is divided into easy to read and reference categories that help me choose what I should be eating at many popular restaurants or what I should be ordering for my children. Popular restaurant ideas are offered for Ruby Tuesday's, Applebee's and many fast food restaurants.

Eat This Not That also helps you determine what foods you could use as a substitute for your holiday cooking and treats as well as saves you tons of time standing in the aisle of the grocery store.  I think that is one of my favorite parts of the book is that after a few times consulting the grocery section I can automatically decide which cereals, breads, meats, cheeses, and even children's drinks may be the best choice, or a really good substitute.

Other categories in the book help your realize what are some of the worst foods in the world for you to eat-as well as offer you better choices.

Other valuable points in the book include the big colorful pictures. I am a visual learner so seeing the items such as cereals or breakfast foods helps me to remember them in the store. While it doesn't give you ALL the knowledge you need from the labels it does give you the basics regarding calories, fat and sugars and these are the three big things I am trying to watch out for.

Using the choices provided you probably could lose weight, and I think I have lost a little since my shorts are all looser.  However, I really picked it up to help me with not only grocery shopping but to make sure that I had some ideas for my children that would help them learn to Eat This Not That!

I love this book and use it all the time as a reference. I learned a lot from it and I was a dietary counselor back in the day. (WAY back in the day). Gigi, I reviewed this book.

I seem to recall someone else reviewed this book. Hmm...was it CrystaBush? Anyway, sounds good. I think for the most part I eat healthy but I'm addicted to Hidden Valley Ranch dressing and tend to get a lot of unnecessary calories from that.

If I remember correctly it recommended Chickfilla often over other fast food sandwiches which should make you happy. I just got my free chicken sandwich from your moneysavingparent blog. Thanks.
