I had never heard of Eastwick, but after an episode of Dancing with the Stars, I left ABC on because they kept talking about all these new shows that were coming out. After 5 minutes of the Eastwick Premiere, I had already gone in and set up my DVR to record this whole series.

I had just been getting into Lipstick Jungle, when they took it off the air, so I was happy to see Lindsay Price was back on the small screen. Joining her as stars of the show are Rebecca Romijn and Jaime Ray Newman. All three are great in this show and I enjoy their different personalities. Sara Rue, who has been in multiple TV series, also has a pretty big part as the friend of one of the girls. She adds a nice humor and down-to-earthness to the story. Although the show is not a comedy, it isn't incredibly drama-filled either. I'd compare it to Desperate Housewives in that there is some silliness, some drama, and a few chuckles here and there.

Having never seen the movie The Witches of Eastwick, I went into this not having a clue what it was about. Basically, these three women all have issues in their lives. At a town outing, all three women make a wish in a fountain at the same time when suddenly they start to develop different powers. In addition to these mysterious powers, there is a mysterious man played by Paul Gross. His character seems to be behind it all, but the three women cannot figure him out!

Now the show focuses on these three as they become fast and inseparable friends. Even though they would have had nothing to do with each other in the past, they are now all bonded by the mysterious things that are happening to them. It isn't your typical witch fantasy, like Charmed was. Instead, these three women are slowly realizing they have something special. They aren't doing spells and disappearing/reappearing or anything like that. It is more subtle things. One has dreams of things that happen in the future. Another seems to have control over the weather and the elements. The third can get any man to tell her the truth just by looking them in the eye.

In the premiere, I appreciated how well they described the story. A lot of times shows will make you "guess" about characters and figure things out. Sometimes it may take weeks before you really get the story. However, Eastwick dove right in with a tale and a narrator so we knew exactly what was going on. Now we still don't know all the details, but it is interesting to watch from week to week as the women slowly learn more and more about their situation.

If you missed it, check out ABC.com for reruns online and get yourself caught up! It's a good show with good characters and makes you wonder - what will happen next?
