Wow, money is helpful. Isn't it? And people with money age better. It's true. C'mon, it's true. So, if you can afford it - membership fees are the steepest in the city - the East Bank Club in Chicago is a wonderful place to spend your time. To me all health clubs are both luxury and torture. I run every other day and have for a long time. I run outside and really need that connection to nature, even in the dead of Winter. Thus, locking myself in a sanatorium, chaining myself to a machine, and gerbil-spinning with the rest of the world doesn't thrill me. However, the East Bank Club is so much more than that, and this is where the appeal lies.
In addition to all the lemming-lover machines, there are several pools and for me, after laps, it is fun to sit pool-side and tell yourself that, despite every fact on the planet, you have no worries. The dressing rooms are particularly nice, with several lounges, steam baths and massage rooms, and the restaurants are absolutely above-average. There are more classes than anyone could partake in and a decent running track. In these areas, I think, The East Bank Club really excells. So if you can afford it and you don't mind exercising with the masses, you can't go wrong here. And for the business savvy, there are probably some networking possibilities here as well, so consider that an added bonus!
