Horrible Choice

2

EarthLink has no idea how to treat customers. When setting up my equipment the tech couldn't even help me effectively. He told me he didn't know which tab to use. He also told me I needed to some how find another computer in the house. Not everyone has more than one computer. Cancelling the service has a cancellation fee of 90$ if not held up to 12 months. Not worth 45$ each month.

Fast and Efficient Web Mail Service

I like earthlink for my web mail service quite a bit. The interface is easy to use, it has NEVER had a technical difficulty, and I can store a large amount in my inbox. I have never used their call ability so please do not take my comments as reflecting on that. I only know about their email site, and have no complaints at all.

Horrible Service and Rude Reps

1

I signed up for internet services and all they could give me was dial up. I had it for a week and it was horrible. I can't watch videos, play games or even print anything off my computer. When I called to cancel service I got hung up on.I had to call back just to get a cut off date and get a return address label to send back their little crappy plastic plug in so called modem so I wouldn't be charge $20. If you need internet service don't go with this company. Its a waste of time and money.

Horrible!

This email service is the biggest crock of bull ever!!!! They not only took my money but they also didn't set up my account after I had my address printed on business cards for a trade show. After I found out I spent 3 hours on the phone with the completely inadequate phone representative that had no authority of knowledge to fix my problem or refund my money. They should be ashamed to be in business and you should NEVER do business with them. Call Quality Horrible! Customer Service Horrible! Compatibility Horrible! Calling Features Horrible Ease of Use Horrible

We made the change from landline to Voip over a year ago and haven't looked back.  I was able to set the whole thing up online and even kept my own phone number.  The estimated up to three weeks for the box to arrive and it got here in under a week.  The installation was a snap.  We did hit a bump with an old router that we had to have changed out (thankfully, no charge with our service).  Cost is very reasonable.  Free long distance, voicemail, caller ID (which we'd never sprung for before), free call blocking, free online voicemail check, and more.  When using the phone I've never even noticed a difference between the old landline and the Voip!

Earthlink is pathetic.

After using Earthlink for more than 10 years, I give up. They do not support Mac users. When I cancelled service, they continued to bill my credit card for six months. Worst customer service ever. Their spam filter is a total joke--they can't even screen viagra ads!

Medicore product, horrible customer service.

After 12 years as an Earthlink customer, I have watched the company spiral downward in quality and service. I'm not sure why Earthlink has network outages, I'm not sure why it would take 24 hours to restore service to a major metropolitan area, and apparently no one at Earthlink customer support does either. My last customer support experience with them was typical. My DSL stops working, I check the modem diagnostics, I call customer service to check that they have a network outage (by the far the most likely culprit) and after being on hold for a while and then getting a person, that person says no. I ask that she please check again, it sure smells like an outage, and the response is, "Nowhere in the United States is there a network outage." Then she and two other reps waste the next 2 hours of my life making me screw around with my computer settings and cables and so on before finally telling me what I told them, which was there was a network outage. I say typical, because this happens more frequently than any paying customer should ever have to put up with. Added to this, the customer support is outsourced to India, and the particular folks they have answering the phones talk quickly and with heavy accents and were very difficult to understand, requiring me to ask them to repeat themselves many times over. I really get the feeling that Earthlink has succumbed to the corporate malady of cutting costs at the expense of product and service. Never once have I felt they made an attempt to treat me as anything more than the subject of a sales pitch. I got this at the very end as well, as they tried to sell me dial-up service to cover my internet needs between providers, then offering to give me a free month, which, of course, would automatically convert to a paid subscription. I have absolutely nothing good to say about this company. Even their "web mail" was an advertisement-laden pile of slop, reloading pages with a simple email delete. I'm switching to a competitor, and while I have no exposure to their customer support (though they claim it's performed by people in my region), I will be getting 9 times the bandwidth for the same price (actually, less for the first year.) I would warn anybody against taking Earthlink as their ISP. Shop around. Find out who provides better product and service. I suspect it won't be hard and it will certainly be worth your time.

stopped waiting for them after two full days of no shows

1

total waste of time. Wanted to switch to DSL plus late June 2010. waited two full days 8am-5pm in which they didn't show up. 24 days after signing up i still had no DSL line activated. Was running out of patience as I had canceled my other internet connection (what was I thinking that Earthlink should be able to get me up and running in 30 days?). Asked them for expedited service and a smaller window as i had now wasted enough of my time. Smaller window was impossible and expedited service was going to cost me $210?! Did they realize that THEY had not shown up and caused unnecessary delays? No reasonable conversation is possible with their Indian call center. If you can understand them in the first place, you'll find out that these people are not able to decide on anything and promise you that someone will get back to you. Of course this never happens. Earthlink is a total mess! I cancelled my termination with current provider and will be looking for another provider.

I say never ever ever use earthlink, unless you like stress!!!!

1

I would recommend that you run as fast as you can away from Earthlink. I have had nothing but stress, charging errors continuesly on my credit card, horrible customer service, and a internet connection thats intermitent. I have spent hours upon hours on the phone with customer service agents that I cant understand, and dont seem to speak english very well. I always have to start from the begining for a problem I have called about many times. They dont listen and keep repeating themselves. After talking to several agents, finally someone seems to have fixed the billing problem, and low and behold once again its not fixed and their trying to hit my card again and again for an amount they claimed to have fixed. Oh and god help you if you have to move. Be prepared for a nightmare. They charged me the $149.95 cancelation fee when all I did was move my service. Then they said the fixed it and ended up charging me again.  Beware of this company!! Go somewhere else!

Both my husband and I were back in school for our BS's in Criminal Justice. We took the entire program on-line and only had one problem with our internet that entire time. The service department was great when we did have a problem.
