EAS AdvantEdge Carb Control Nutrition Bar, Cookies & Cream —

Bottom-Line: Based on the taste of the AdvantEdge Cookies & Cream I am very reluctant to try any other flavor outside of Chocolate Peanut Butter, but I know I will eventually.

I have battled with my weight-most of the time losing the various and sorted battles-all of my life, but I intend to win the war.  There was a period when I got down to about 210 and I was feeling no pain, but that didn't last long and over the intervening years I have put on more then I ever wanted.  So here I am 47 years old and ready to start a new campaign.

So what to do?  Actually, a fellow weight watcher had a solution right at hand, in the form of EAS AdvantEdge Carb Control Nutrition Bar, Cookies & Cream; well almost.  The AdvantEdge Cookies & Cream meal replacement bar is a low carbohydrate high protein snack bar design for those of us who want to limit our carbohydrate intake and hike protein ingestion.

On this score the AdvantEdge Cookies & Cream marketed by EAS-a sports and nutrition company-delivers: a one serving 2.12oz bar contains 220 calories, 21 grams of protein, 7 grams of fat, 1 grams of dietary fiber, and only 2 grams of "impact" carbohydrates.  Impact carbohydrates are those that go directly towards raising your blood sugar level; good news for those suffering from diabetes.  The bars also contain a fair amount of trace minerals and vitamins.  The bar along with a piece of fruit and a bottle of water is enough to fill me up.

My Viewpoint

Now I love cookies and cream ice cream, and I adore cookies, but I hate the way the AdvantEdge Cookies & Cream tastes.  It is more like a very sweet desert then a protein bar, but I suppose that's the point.  The bar has no sugar, but instead uses a sugar substitute whose taste leave a lot to be desired.  The moist cookie center which tastes powdery is covered by a white outer coating shot through with tasteless chocolate chips and with the consistency of cold icing only artificially sweetened.

The outer wrapping look inviting enough, but what awaits one on the inside is a great disappointment.  Needless the say I have purchased my last 12-bar box of AdvantEdge Cookies & Cream and at an average cost of $1.33 per bar, this was a rather expensive lesson to learn.  But there is a silver lining: the other box I bought at the same time Chocolate Peanut Butter tastes so much better.

Based on the taste of the AdvantEdge Cookies & Cream I am very reluctant to try any other flavor outside of Chocolate Peanut Butter, but I know I will eventually.

But, if you are watching your carbohydrate intake and want a viable breakfast or lunch alternative, the AdvantEdge Cookies & Cream protein bar may do the trick for you, but taste one before you commit to a whole box; trust me I wish I had.
