EAS AdvantEdge Carb Control Nutrition Bar, Chocolate Peanut Butter —

Bottom-Line: If you are watching your carbohydrate intake and want a viable breakfast or lunch alternative, the AdvantEdge Chocolate Peanut Butter protein bar may do the trick for you.

I have decided to start going the gym in the morning and work out for an hour before going to work.  But then there is the problem of what to do for breakfast.  Eating before I work out will only leave me feeling too full to work out effectively, and you really shouldn't work out for at least 30 minutes after you eat.  So I have to eat breakfast after I workout, beating back the hunger pangs that dog my every step first thing in the morning.  I don't want to wait to eat until I get to work; the commute is 45 minutes, and I don't want to eat sandwiches every morning (easy to prepare), and I do not want to stop by McDonalds or Burger King for breakfast every morning.  It kind of defeats the whole working out thing.

So what to do?  Thankfully for me, and my diet, I purchased another flavor of bars, the EAS AdvantEdge Carb Control Nutrition Bar, Chocolate Peanut Butter.  This one is a keeper!

The AdvantEdge Chocolate Peanut Butter meal replacement bar is a low carbohydrate high protein snack bar design for those of use who want to limit our carbohydrate intake and hike protein ingestion.  It is ideal for people who suffer from diabetes, people like me, who struggle to keep their blood sugar under control, while still getting the nutrition they need.  And just as important the bar is a more than adequate meal replacement if eaten with fruit and a bottle of water.

The 411

The AdvantEdge Chocolate Peanut Butter marketed by Canada-based sport and Nutrition Company EAS.  AdvantEdge Chocolate Peanut Butter is a one serving (2.12oz) bar that contains 210 calories, 21 grams of protein, 7 grams of fat, 1 grams of dietary fiber, and only 4 grams of "impact" carbohydrates.

The bars also contain a fair amount of trace minerals and vitamins many of which will supply 30% of the daily recommended dietary intake   The bar along with a piece of fruit and a bottle of water is enough to fill me up.

My Viewpoint

For me, a person who loves chocolate and peanut butter, the AdvantEdge Chocolate Peanut Butter is a satisfactory meal replacement, and thankfully, they taste good.  The bar has no sugar, but instead uses a sugar substitute whose taste while not ideal, is acceptable; there is no after taste and the artificial nature of the sugar is not overpowering.  The moist cookie like center is chewy while the small strip of peanut butter actually tastes like peanut butter, and the chocolate outer covering is delicious.

AdvantEdge Chocolate Peanut Butter is now my bar of choice; I usually buy them in 12-bar boxes for around $16.00 depending on what sale is going on at Drugstore.com.  That works out to about $1.33 a bar; almost 1/3 of the individual bar if bought at retail.  The bars can also be had at Ebay.com and Amazon.com, but prefer Drugstore.com because of the discounts I receive.

If you are watching your carbohydrate intake and want a viable breakfast or lunch alternative, the AdvantEdge Chocolate Peanut Butter protein bar may do the trick for you.
