E-Z Rent-A-Car — 

I had a terrible experience in Ft Lauderdale, Flordia on July 16th at about midnight. I was told when I picked up the vehicle that the standard size vehicle I had reserved for me and my husband (both in our 20's) was not available and there was a mini-van in it's place. We expressed our un-happness about the vehicle to the rental agent. She told us either we take the van or pay an upgrade for an SUV or convertible mini-cooper. Neither was in our budget, so we declined and asked if we would be able to trade out the vehicle at the Miami location. We were told that they had nothing available. We reluctantly took the mini-van. After loading all our luggage into the vehicle there was a light on the dash indicating a problem with the vehicle. We went back to the counter. Another couple was at the counter not satisfied with the convertible mini-cooper they were getting in replacement of their standard size vehicle. (Yeah the same one they tried to sell to us as an upgrade!!) The other couple had requested a 4 door vehicle because they had a baby and an additional people with them. They said they could not fit all their luggage into the car. I witnessed the agent being extremely rude to couple. The agent excused herself to help us. She agreed to put us in another vehicle. Guess what another mini-van! So if a second mini-van was available then why did she not give it to the other couple ?? We even joked with them when we were still at the counter about trading cars and they said the would if it was not for the light on the dash indicating a problem. And we both had standard size reservations. Bottom line, the agent was trying to use the oppertunity of an un-satisfied customer to sell an upgrade. So I am wondering this company requires their customers to upgrade in order for them to be satisfied with their car? She could have just switched the two vehicles and made us both happy and we would have used them again. And the agent did not once apoligize about the situation and was rude and cold. My husband and I had a horrible time trying to parallel park the mini-van all over Miami Beach all week. We had a great time in Miami except the experience with the car. I submited this complaint to their customer service department a week ago and have not heard back!!!!!
