Dyson DC17 Animal Review Summary

All vacuum cleaners are not created equal, and the Dyson Animal is top of the pack say vacuum cleaner reviewers. Pet owners, in particular, love the Dyson Animal. It really does pull out animal hair and other dirt that is left behind by most vacuum cleaners. Consumers also love the fact that the Dyson Animal is bagless. Debris collects in the clear plastic canister, so you can see what you’re picking up and when you need to clean the vacuum unit. If you really want a clean house, invest in a Dyson Animal say consumers who are willing to invest in quality. You won’t be sorry.

I got this vacuum about 2 months ago and all I can say is that I absolutely LOVE it!!  It works great picking up dog hair and whatever else is in your carpet. I probably empty the container every 2-3 uses because it fills up fast.  That means its working!  Its so simple to use. … read full review »

this vacuum was fantastic until it broke after only a month and I got NO support from the store where I bought it or from the manufacturer> I was extremely disappointed. I have 2 Great Danes, who just had 11 puppies, a Silky Terrier, a cat and a ferret. I bought This vacuum because I had heard it… read full review »

This product is a champ!  I had owned a Dyson previously (yellow - not sure on the model number).  When my ex-wife moved on, I lost that vaccuum.  So, after using a hand me down, I was ready to get a new model.  I do have two dogs, so I was intrigued by the animal concept.  I have to say, it gets all the hair up off my rugs!  I have wood floors, so that is easy to maintain, but the area rugs seem to trap a lot of dirt as well as animal hair and dander.  I am amazed each time I vaccuum at how much more clean my rugs are and the volume of "stuff" it sucks up.… read full review »

ok - so yes it is expensize....BUT I have 2 dogs (husky/shepherd and full blood shepherd....have you seen how much comes off those dogs?!?!) plus I also foster dogs so this thing works great!!! — I bought this for my husband for xmas last yr.....yea, OK strange but he is the one in charge of running the sweeper most of the time!  Before we left to visit family for the holidays we swept the house with our old sweeper and the day we came home we exchanged gifts and he immediately wanted to "try out" his new toy....you wouldn't have believed the dirt in the carpet (oh and our carpets… read full review »

A friend brought over her new Dyson Vacuum for me to try as I was coomplaining about my carpet looking terrible.  I used my old vacuum (oreck) just before she brought the Dyson.  I could not believe how much pet hair and dirt I vacuumed up.  I had to empty the cannister three times.  Didn't take me long to order one for myself.  My carpet looked so much better...I would say at least 70% better than it had.  I try to vacuum about every 3rd day and I still have to empty the cannister before I can use it again.  My daughter has a Dyson (for over a year now) and… read full review »

This is a great vacuum.  Yes, it is more expensive than any other vacuum, but it is well worth it.  I did a test with my old (not really old, only 5 years old) vacuum and the Dyson, I vacuumed my whole house with the old one.  Then immediately vacuumed everything again with the dyson.  IT PICKED UP SO MUCH MORE DIRT!!  It is very easy to operate and the tools are… read full review »

Well I ordered the dyson because i have multiple animals, its called the dyson animal.  Mine is purple.  We just moved in with my father in law who lives in a 200 year old house.  We have 4 dogs and 3 cats.  we have replaced all carpets upstairs(so they are new).  My dyson gets clogged every time.  I have to go threw all the hoses and empty them because it gets clogged.  It may, in all fairness, be because of the new carpets but this vaccum is suppose to be the ultimate in suction.  So why even if the canister is empty does it clog???/  Your guess… read full review »

I've gone through several vacuum's over the years. Usually I took the cheaper route.Last year I decided to spend over $100 on what I thought was a good one, but was terribly wrong. So, I decided to get over the price tag and get the Dyson DC17. Holy cow! I don't know why I waited. This is the most fabulous vacuum I've ever used. It will more than pay for itself just by how clean it makes my carpets. My daughter even commented on how the scent coming from the vacuum was so clean smelling. We have 2 indoor cats (and sometimes a rabbit), so there is a lot of hair floating around. And… read full review »

When I bought my fist Dyson I was so impressed I even showed the guy who was demonstrating one a Sam's Cluba few of the advantages. Before I was through,  I had a crowd around me. — This is my second Dyson.  The first animal D-7 lasted 5 years of heavy use. I was so impressed with it I bought the newer version.  I am hard on vacuums with two kids, two dogs and a cat!   I used to go through Hoovers once a year.   The Dyson has strong suction, great attachments for hair and crevices, easy to maintain and very easy to… read full review »

Dyson Dyson, whats in a name? Well if it is the owner of the Dyson product line, you are a well deserved millionaire. I wasn't sold at first. I disliked the man just for his cocky accent and ridiculous ads on the television. I tried a couple out, mostly friends that I would borrow for a few weeks but was never that impressed but Lord Almighty, the pet version of this product is everything it says it is and more. I borrowed my sisters and liked it immediately. It not only got the mini-kitten leave behinds from my partly-persion from beneath the bed it sucked up dog hair clumps from unseen… read full review »

This thing gets animal hair up great. It can clean up the hardwoor floor - great if you have animals as their hair will just scatter if you try to sweep it - the dyson just sucks it up faster than it can try to run from the vacuum. Has attachement so that you can use the vacuum on ANY surface. The only bad thing is that way that the wand is constructed. Makes it somewhat hard to vacuum out the car because the end of the expanding wand is a long solid plastic tube that obviously does not bend to reach under car seats, etc. But it is well worth the money. The bagless canister is very… read full review »

We have had our dyson for one year. It is wonderful. The first week, we were horrified that it picked up so much dust and dirt. Finally we had vacuumed enough that it had gotten the big stuff out. I have never had a vacuum such this much stuff out of our carpet. — The price did bother me. However I watched the newspapers and got it on Black Friday last year. The store offered 15% off and $5 for every $50 spent in store credit. When I got there, they also offered another 15% discount for early birds. So it cost us $360. — We did have a bad dog stain. Used… read full review »

Prior to my decision to purchase a Dyson I went thru 3 cheap(er) vacuum cleaners which did not last long, despite cleaning the machine(s) per the instructions. I have allergies to numerous things, especially dust, so I decide to give the Dyson a try. I am SO thrilled with this machine!!! I'm amazed at the amount of dust/dirt & dog hair the Dyson picks up, the clean smell after vacuuming, and it's so easy to use. I also have my own carpet cleaner and, before the Dyson, I would get disgusted with all the dirt that came out of the carpet. After using the Dyson & then cleaning the… read full review »

I have had this vacuum for about a year and it has worked GREAT! I have two dogs that seem to shed their entire coats every week; I also have two kids. I use this vacuum on my carpeting, wood floors and throw rugs without any problems. Every time I use it I am horrified to see what was on my floor, but amazed that this vacuum picked it up. It does an excellent job getting out dog hair, sand and dirt that gets ground into our back door rug. It is not too loud or too heavy, two complaints that I had read about online. I has a nice long cord and lots of attachments. It is, however, very… read full review »

We use this vacuum to vacuum at the retail store that I work at.  It is a great vacuum that picks up a lot of sand, dirt and hair.   You do need to check and clean the two filters once a week if you use it a lot like we do.  If you clean the bottom filter make sure it is completely dry before you replace it in the vacuum.  If you feel that it is losing suction then it probably is the filters needing cleaning.  It is a more expensive vacuum but it you have a lot of carpets to clean or pets; it is worth the money.  Sometimes the canister is a little… read full review »

I never knew that vacuums were not created equally. — I opened it up for the first time, put the vacuum together and clean has never been the same. — We don't have pets, but we have hardwood floors that collect dust like nobody's business. I love this vacuum for it's suction, I don't have to go over things twice, once over and everything is clean. I can see the fine dust particles and I know that I'm done. — It is a pricey item, but if you have lots of pets or go thru vacuums left and right, this vacuum will be your last. It is heavy and if you have several floors, you… read full review »
