I have 5 cats and currently live in a tiny house. This was truly a recipe for disaster. Last year after debating with myself long and hard I went all out and bought the Dyson Animal Ball Vacuum.  It was the best decision I ever made.

I am not a floor cleaner.  I have rugs in my bathroom and kitchen so that I can throw them in the washing machine instead of mopping.  I truly would rather replace a floor than clean it. In part, I think this phobia was caused because of the every ten minute clogging of every other vacuum cleaner I have ever owned due to assorted pet hair.  The Dyson vacuum is my dream come true.  It picks up everything without clogging.  The only stopping that I have to do is to empty the cup.

The ball feature is awsome.  As I said, I live in a TINY house. The Dyson vacuum just zips around the furniture without my having to lug it out of the way.  It also seems to clean from the side on both sides. It picks up a huge amount of debris, and if it picks up something it shouldn't (a superball for instance) there is a port (airway inspection valve) near the intake of the filter that you can open and remove the item (too cool).

I vacuum alot more since I bought the Dyson. Now for me that is something. I sometimes will vacuum two days in a row!  This is from someone who sometimes wouldn't vacuum but two months in a row if I could get away with it.

Now for the bad, but not too. The hose on the cleaning wand is tight...you have to pull really hard. The extended front that gives the ball vacuum its' manueverability is awkward to carry around unless you do so exactly as the instructions say to (one hand on the handle, one hand on the cup handle).  And on my vaccum sometimes the foot pedal that extends the back wheels for pushing doesn't seem to want to engage right away.

None of this seems much of a detriment to me for the extreme power (no matter how much I clean that cup is full) and great manueverability of the Dyson Ball vacuum.  After one pass my carpet looks fresh and after another it begins to look new (no joke).

One word to the wise.  If you are considering buying this or any Dyson vacuum I cannot stress this enough. Buy from an authorized dealor if you want that 5 year warrantee that we all use to help talk ourselves into spending the bucks on one of these.  Dyson will not honor the warrantee without proof of purchase from an authorized dealor.  Also, remember to register your vacuum.
