The Dyson DC14 really picks up the dirt.

Pros

    Good suction, Cleans great, Never looses suction even full, well designed and made, good attachments

Cons
    no way to reduce suction, High profile

After going through several different uprights, I stepped out and bought a Dyson.   I got a great deal on the DC14 All Floors model.   The suction is great.   The bagless feaure is also good.   My previous upright was very heavy and hard to manuveur.   Not so with the Dyson.

 My only complaint is that the profile is rather high,necessitating using the wand to vacuum under my kitchen cabinets.

 I am hard on vacuums but so far haven't busted anything on the Dyson.
