Dyson DC14 Animal Vacuum Review

The Bottom Line:  Remember, there is nothing more to buy once you purchase the DC14 Animal. No bags, filter, nothing. SO start truly cleaning!!!

For almost 5 years I have used the DC7 as a test for Dyson and thought it was amazing the way it cleaned. Then I was at H H Gregg where I love seeing folks freak at a $500 selling price & more at other stores like Sears. The Manager, who knows I do professional shopping & wrote a review on his store, gives me an "Aunt Gert" discount on items we buy, so we are his best customers.

So 2 days ago I was in the store & he approaches me with the new DC14 Animal. It has twice the cleaning power of the DC7, much better cleaning than the DC7 & he said I could have it if I traded in my DC7 Animal & paid $50 for the shipping from dYSON'S NEW HOME IN india!. DEAL! . I went home, packed up the vacuum & its 3 attachments & came home with the DC14. Everything is bigger than the DC7 but it is built lower so it goes under end tables. The suction is much more making for faster cleaning. The metal tube inserts into the hose so it pulls out not the hose to rip as my DC7 did. It reaches up 13 carpeted stairs and the beater bar attachment does the best cleaning job of stairs, sofa, recliner, even auto seats by banging out the dirt to be sucked up. The brush attachment is great for mini blinds without sucking them into bending as Hoover attachments do. The crevice attachment gets into those corners that nothing reaches, goes under the fridge & stove, and gets into the drawer that cookie crumbs feel into. The floor attachment is HUGE & sticks to the floor to get every single hair, dust granule, but not a penney or a dime. It is intelligent! I also use it on the bed when I strip it to wash everything, just to have a 100% clean bed to sleep on. The carpet height adjusts automatically as you vacuum & no carpet is too thick for it. If you have long hair as I do, it will wrap around the beater bar, so once a week turn the bottom face up & cut the hair across the bar, then turn it on to suck it off the bar, or remove by pulling off. When doing floors without the attachment, you set it to FLOORS to turn the beater bar off. But remember to set it to CARPET when you return to vacuum them.

A 2 year warranty is wonderful & with an AMEX credit card purchase that makes it 3 years.

You are noticing TV ads for Hoover Wind Tunnel stating it cleans better than Dyson - WRONG! I used a Wind Tunnel at the store with mashed in dirt, pencil sharpener shavings & fuzz. Ran the Wind Tunnel over it followed by the Dyson DC14 Animal & the shroud had dirt spinning in it. The Dysons sold out that day!  They gave me $$$ for selling them out. Now they know I am  Word of Mouth advertising BZZAgent, so I am respected more than ever.

The shroud aka bin cleans with ease as it comes apart to wipe out with a dust cloth or a magnetic duster as I use. They moved the hepa filter to the top of the shroud which is much easier to get at to wash every 6 months, dry for 12 hours & reinsert. If by some reason you do suck up something, the whole vacuum comes apart to find it.

I could go on & on about this DC14 Animal with a parrot that I vacuum 3 times a day, this cuts the time with its suction power. You are also give the carpet care kit with a Dysolv spray on spot remover & Zorb powder that brings the nap back to old carpet making it spring right up & you see footprints in it, even more than just using the DC14 on carpet. It also removes dirt from light colored carpets by just sprinkling, using the carpet cleaning tool provided in the box, then vacuum with the DC14 for max beauty.

One thing with Dyson, it may seem expensive but that is all you are buying. You will not pay additional for bags, filter (that can run $85 every 3 months with a Hoover) and other moneymakers with other brands.

I LOVE IT!  And now they have a CANISTER coming out.
