Cleaning has never been something I liked to do, but if I have to do it, I want it done right. (A job worth doing is worth doing right). Dyson makes it happen. I was skeptical about all the plastic on this machine, but found it was worth a second look. We saw a demonstration and tried it out. It was easy to maneuver around the furniture and the dial to switch from carpet to bare floor was easy to turn. Best of all, the attachments were right on the machine. Even though it is an upright, it can do all my cleaning, such as baseboards, cracks, crevasses, ceiling fans, corners, mattresses, furniture, and stairs. With the click of a lever, the hose comes off for overhead cleaning, another click and the wand comes off, convenient for cleaning furniture. The only attachment that does not ride onboard is the one for stairs. The hose stretches so that you can clean your stairs without having the machine on the stairs. Just sit it at the bottom, turn it on, and walk to the top of the stairs and work your way down.
Generally when you vacuum a room, the edge is hard to get. The Dyson has a little brush on each side of the head to bring the dirt away from the hard to reach places. The suction is great. Since the Dyson is bagless you save money, and after you vacuum, the touch of a lever releases the dirt canister from the cleaner and the touch of another lever dispenses the dirt into a receptacle. If you have allergies dispense the dirt into a plastic bag and throw it away.
I was in the motel business for many years and used many different brands of vacuums. The Dyson is by far the finest machine I have ever used. In addition to the Dyson I have an Electrolux, which usually sits in the closet unless I have help. When my sixteen year old granddaughter helps me, she wants to use my Dyson. She says it's easier to use and more fun.
I've had the Dyson for over a year. If I went to buy a new vacuum today, it would be a Dyson. The one I have is made for people with animals. They also make one for people with asthma. I have allergies and have no problem with the dust when I use my Dyson.

I know it is expensive. But it is well worth the price. When a friend told me how much his wife loved her Dyson, I had to give it a look. Have you checked the prices of the Electrolux? That's the only one I found that would come close.

Thanks for a great review. I've never been happy with my current vacuum and the Dyson sounds like a dream. Maybe someday...

I like your very informative review.....but almost $600 for a vacuum??? I have been searching for something that would work well and not become a disgusting, dirty machine at the same time. I will check this one out.
