I bought my dyson animal in March of 2007. It was a floor model at best buy. I had always wanted one, but never really wanted to spend the money. I was actually at best buy looking for a refirgerator and saw two dysons with floor model tags on them. They were not discounted but I did get a $200 best buy gift card for buying that particular one. That gift card helped me to buy the fridge I wanted forabout   $200 that same day. (that's another story, but yes I paid $254 for a brand new whirlpool side by side fridge that was valued at $1100.)

This is by far the best sweeper I have ever owned. I have blown through at 6 of them in the 12 years that I have lived on my own. I guess I may be hard on sweepers, I tend to use it every day or more often. I have two children and there are messes galore in my house. The dyson picks up everything on the first try, I rarely have to go over the same spot twice. Occasionally I will use a odor powder, just to keep my house smelling fresh and with previous sweepers the powder has clogged the insides. But with the dyson, it picks up the powder and keeps on going. I love the extra long cord. I can plug it in in a central location and do my whole house without having to stop and move the plug.  The attchements are ingenious. I love that they all have a secure spot and do not fall off if I run into something. It's very easy to do, even my kids know how to use the attachments. I have newer carpet therefore I pick up alot of carpet fuzz and the only think that stinks about that is having to empty the cannister often. But it is super easy to do which I love. I've never accidentally spilled the dust mess, like I have done with previous sweepers. I have  really long hair and it falls out in chunks, so when I use the sweeper it gets wrapped around the brush, which is a pain to clean out. The only thing I don't realy care for is that the bottom panel is hard to put back on after cleaning off the brush. If it isn't on there just right, the brush will not roate and it will not pick up. Sometimes it's just hard for me to get it aligned right and screwed back into place.... this is the only thing I wish was easier. Because I have struggled with this so many times, the one plastic screw is stripped and makes removal difficult. Overall, I am very happy with this purchase.
