Love, love, LOVE this vacuum! The suction truly is amazing and it really takes care of pet hair. With my old vacuums (vintage Kirby, recent model Hoover) I found that the vacuum would blow the pet hair away before I could suck it up - not with the Dyson! I also found that the brush action and lack of adequate suction in my old units had a tendancy to result in dirt being projected under the vacuum and back toward my feet, but that's not the case with the Dyson! We have had the worst luck with vacuum clenars. I'm not sure what it is but every vacuum we owned would invariably die with 2yrs, usually 18mos. We started low-end and kept working our way up the chain thinking if we spent a bit more, we'd get better quality but every make, every model would start flaking out and causing us tons of repair time and then just up and quit sucking. No clogs could be found, nothing mechanical that we could discover, just no longer working. I have used cheaper vacuums in the past and have disliked them all. This vacuum, dyson dc14, was truly a great investment that I made after much hesitation because of the price. However, I do not regret purchasing this vacuum. I have a home with carpet and vinyl floors and the dyson dc14 works great on all floors. I recently installed ceramic floors in my bathrooms and it works great in there too. The attachments are easy to use and the suction is great. My wife and I went to purchase a DC14 at Sears. We were very impressed by the sales person's excellent demonstration of all of it's functions. At the time; Sears was giving a $100 gift card with the purchase. That hooked us, so we used the gift card to purchase another Dyson for our son and DIL. When we brought it home; we used it on carpeting that had just been cleaned by our Hoover WindTunnel; it was like our carpeting had never been cleaned. I bought a Dyson DC14 vac a couple of years ago. It does wonders at picking up the hair of my 4 four footed children. I also 4 adult, human children, who were always borrowing my Dyson! Dyson DC14 picks up super and doesn't spit dirt out the back

Was excited to get the Dyson DC14 hoping for same results as shown on TV. The last upright vac I bought spit dirt from the brushes in the front to the back, hitting us in the legs and feet with sand and dirt. As a result, our floors never got clean. The Dyson does not do this. It picks up dog hair, paper, barrettes, etc. Plus, it's easy to retreave things when you accidentally suck things into it from the floor or carpet because of the easy way it empties with no bag. In the past I have gone through several vacuums and have hated all of them. This vacuum I hesitated on buying because of the cost involved but am very pleased with it. The Dyson DC 14 was worth the money. It is easy to empty and I like not having to buy bags. The attachments and the flexible hose make it easy to use for cleaning not just inside the house but also detailing the cars. Since it doesn't have belts, it has minimal maintenance. When my husband bought me a Dyson for Christmas, I was a little concerned about the price, but the performance has been incredible! The suction is awesome, and it never loses suction. The cord is long enough to vacuum several rooms at a time, the wand and hose (which are very conveniently built in) are long enough to vacuum the cobwebs from the ceiling, or a whole flight of stairs.
