Most HelpfulI love my Dyson!
That sentence just about says it all. Let me start out by saying that I am single, with no children or pets in the house. I suffer from terrible allergies that seem to be even more aggravated in the summer and fall months. After seeing all the commercials featuring Mr. Dyson...

Most HelpfulFirst of all, I should say a part of me winces every time I look at my Dyson DC07 vacuum cleaner. First off, it's an absolutely ghastly sparkly purple: Dyson must have cut a licensing agreement with Prince. It has weird organic curves that makes it look like a refugee from the movie "Aliens". When you're done using it, all the junk formerly in your carpet (presumably deposited there by you) is displayed for all to see in the clear compartment that traps the dirt. Oh, and did I mention that I paid over $400 for it, perhaps twice what any vacuum should ever reasonably cost?
The negatives...
read full review »We bought the Dyson DC07 Animal after a birthday of mine a few years ago. We run a pet rescue despite the fact that I am severely asthmatic and allergic to cats and dogs. I used the cash, Target gift cards, and a couple hundred dollars in credit to purchase the $499 vacuum. I use all kinds of medications and inhalers but I figured that any vacuum that could help to pick up pet fur and dander was worth the exhorbitant price.
This vacuum has a patented technology that maintains suction no matter how full the canister gets. It's a bagless machine that amazes everyone the first time they run...

Well, after hearing testomonies of owners who would "die" for their Dyson and how great it works and having my $60 K-mart special vacuum cleaner catch on fire while in use, I decided I wanted a Dyson Vacuum Cleaner.
I searched the sale papers and online. I found it on sale at a local store and I also had a 20% off coupon, Bingo!
I, now, have joined the "I Love My Dyson" crazies.
Their are many different models and...
read full review »The Dyson is pricey, but I do think it is worth it for pet owners with carpets. It works OK on bare floors too, but like most vacuums - not that great. I do find it to be an eyesore in ugly purple and gray. I always keep it in the closet. I had a dog that was a serious shedder - big ol' dust bunnies of fur. I have two cats and a cat condo. The dust bunnies came out of the carpet and the long white cat fur was easily sucked off the kitty condo with the included tools.
Using the attachments with the hose can be awkward and tricky. the vacuum wants to follow you everywhere. it lurches around behind...

With 2 parrots, me with very long hair & I do shed, vacuums in my house do not last thru warranty. I get my $$ back on many Hoovers I've owned.
With a new electronics store opening (HH Gregg) we saw the Dyson, much talked about in Consumer Reports, on HGTV & DIY shows. Lowes never heard of it, and their web site listed Best Buy, Target, Sears & H H Gregg. $399 (yellow), $499 (purple), $599 (green) were prices that floored me. But...
Durability
I clean houses for a living and I always use my clients vacuum. I think this gives me alot of expertise in judging the quality and ease of use of different vacuum cleaners. I can state with absolute conviction that Dyson is the most poorly engineered vacuum on the market. It is a nightmare to use, picks up dirt poorly and tends to chew-up and spew out at high velocity whatever it fails to pick-up.
When you use a Dyson you must have your cleaning plan of attack prepared in advance, otherwise plan to spend most of your time assembling and disassembling the extension arm from the...
read full review »If I had to choose one of my home appliances to keep and all the rest had to thrown out, I would definitely keep my Dyson "Animal" Upright Vaccuum. This piece of macinery is a real work of art as far as home appliances go. It is an upight with a carpet mode, as well as, a bare floor mode (which I use more to vaccuum my rugs as they are too long for the spinning sweeper and get wrapped around it and makes an awful noise), and no matter which mode you choose, you get an award winnng performance, not to mention a clean floor. This thing NEVER loses suction, And can tackle nearly anything. I recently...
read full review »When my old vacuum died a horrible death, my husband and I decided to try the Dyson. We decided on this particular one b/c it wasn't a whole lot more expensive and it had all the cool attachments. Let me say first that I do not own indoor pets. I do, however, have 3 children who love to play outside and track in all kinds of grass and weeds and who knows what else. The Dyson does it's job fantastically. The only time it doesn't pick up stuff is when the cannister is full or when the rotating brush is crammed with thread or fabric strips from my sewing or fuzz from the carpets. We...
