Bottom-Line: Over all, my users are very pleased with the performance of the Dymo LabelWriter Turbo 330; the label printer works, and works well.

Like the Dymo LabelWriter EL60 it replaces, the Dymo LabelWriter Turbo 330 is a small printer shaped like a half circle with a semi clear window in the front to view labels as they are printer.  On the front of the printer is a horizontal slot from which labels are "ejected" once printed.  Front panel controls are limited to one: the advance label button, used in case the label become jammed, or the printer will not print, but you need to advance the label.  Also on the front of the Dymo LabelWriter Turbo 330 is a small oval yellow light indicating that the unit is powered on.  On the back there is rocker switch for power, and two connections for serial and USB.

The primary differences between the Dymo LabelWriter Turbo 330 and Dymo LabelWriter EL60 is the dpi resolution (203 vs. 300); label printing speed (8 vs. 32 per minute); expanded label media support; expanded support for third-party word processor, email, and contact management software. Another big change is the color of the printer itself; the Dymo LabelWriter Turbo 330 is a sleek, modern (hip), brushed silver, with a flat red base vs. the dark gray of the Dymo LabelWriter EL60.

Turbo 330 Features:

  • Eliminates the hassle of printing labels with a desktop or network printer.
  • Direct thermal print technology eliminates ribbons, toner and ink cartridges.
  • 300dpi resolution for laser sharp labels.
  • Prints labels up to 2.3" (56mm) wide.
  • Prints labels in 2 seconds, 32 per minute.
  • Prints Internet postage.
  • Automatically captures addresses from popular applications for instant address labels with no retyping.
  • Prints Code 39, Code 128, Codabar, UPC A/E, EAN 8/13, EAN 128, ITF-14 and Interleaved 2 of 5 bar codes.
  • Connects to USB or Serial port.
  • Easy to share over a network.
  • Works with Windows 98, 2000, Me, XP and MAC OS 10.2.4 and 10.3. Can be used with MAC OS 8.6, 9, and 9.1 with version 5.03 of our DLS software.
  • Package contents: Printer, desktop power supply w/cable, USB/serial cables, roll of labels, Windows/Mac software and manual on CD, printed Quick Start Guide.

 My Viewpoint

Over all, my users are very pleased with the performance of the Dymo LabelWriter Turbo 330; the label printer works, and works well.  The Dymo LabelWriter Turbo 330 offer a dpi comparable to low end laser and inkjet printers, but still lacks color output.  If you are looking for a medium priced, high speed low maintenance, reliable label printer with above average, water resistant, smudge free output, look no further then the Dymo LabelWriter Turbo 330.

the LabelWriter 330 Turbo was definitely an awesome label printer for it's time, but it was replaced by the LabelWriter 400 series 3 years ago... and the 400 series was just replaced by the LabelWriter 450 series in August 2009 (see Labelcity.com)
