Dwell - At Home in the Modern World Reviews

Plenty of publications exist that focus on the home and they concentrate on many different areas, such as home design, home repair, vacation homes, and more. One home publication that focuses on home remodeling and related topics is Dwell Magazine, a publication for those who want modernity with a twist.

One of my top three magazines is Dwell.  Their tag-line is "At Home in the Modern World," which does a fairly nice job of summing up the book.  As a clarifying note, one of the most recent Editor's Note explored "At Home in the Modern World" and was very clear to explain that Dwell isn't composed entirely in the 'expected and fashionable modern style.'  It's far more about sustainability - utilizing modern materials that are more eco-friendly or renovating something that is old; leveraging past and current materials better, wiser.  Most importantly, one's shelter is about exploring personal...

I stumbled onto Dwell magazine at my neighborhood Big Box do-it-yourself store. It's focused entirely on Modern interiors and exteriors, and features homes in various locations across the country.

Dwell could talk down to non-architects, but never does. It strikes a perfect balance for readers who are somewhat sophisticated, know their taste, and like to learn more. Plus, who can resist the voyeur aspect of peeking inside a really great house?

The Bottom Line: Libby Loves It!

Dwell is a great Saturday-morning-with-coffee read...I've read many issues cover-to-cover.  Even though many of the products/design elements featured are not financially feasible for my income, I still get plenty of practical ideas that I incorporate into my home.
