Close to work, we have Dunkin Donuts, Caribou and Starbucks all within shooting distance during a break or lunch....And the highest percentage of coffee cups from take out by far is Dunkin Donuts, which is really bizarre when you consider it is the least expensive of the three. And occassionally somebody will treat and get a bag of ground coffee from Dunkin donuts for the machine in the break room, and lots of exchanges of Dunkin Donuts coffee gift cards and bags of coffee for Secret Santa at the holidays or as a birthday treat for co-workers. It is really universally liked. And, our church is truly a bunch of coffee hounds, and heaven forbid there not be hot and rich coffee in time for adult Bible class, or that a school event be sponsored where coffee does not factor into the refreshment lineup, or a committee meeting without java...(decaf is OK after 5:00 PM, but that is about as far as anyone there can concede) And still the greatest treat if for somebody to bring in Dunkin Donuts coffee. I personally prefer whole bean and to grind it myself as I am going to use it. I find that the first pot of the bag is pretty close in quality to the last-even though the vacuum seal is off the package. I do store mine in the fridge in an airtight container, which might help. The aroma of the beans is great, and then when you grind it, it intensifies, and mmmmmm while it is brewing. It even rewarms pretty well without that burnt taste. Minimal bitterness, but still a rich, full bodied coffee flavor, and a decent caffiene punch to start your day. The best part is the cost, which is really reasonable and competitive with most bagged coffee options available in your grocery store. Last time, I paid right about $8.00 for the one pound package, and they do have coupons from time to time in the Sunday supplements and the midweek fliers. The yield is pretty good as well. I find that I get about an additional 10 cup pot per pound compared to other brands without it tasting watered down. In a very unscientific and poorly designed survey on my part, I discovered that even my most die hard coffee addicted friends and relatives will choose this over just about anything else you care to offer-given a choice that is. Now, it is even available on the shelf, right alongside the Starbucks at most grocery stores, and even Sam's Club has a larger bag available. When I have the extra to spare, I like to get one of the bulk bags at Sams to donate for the Church...makes me a popular sort with the coffee crowd. About the only criticism that I have (and boy is this a wierd one)-I hate their packaging...that gosh awful combo of pink and orange. Might be that I am just not fond of pink in general, but to put it together with orange???? Does that really represent coffee????-Well, it does make you recognize Dunkin Donuts right off, and I suppose that is the intent, but I sure could recognize it by smell and taste over most of the coffees I have tried without the noxious packaging...(Not that I expect that they will change the trademark, logo, or color combo to suit me, and I will buy the coffee anyway, because I transfer it to my air tight container as soon as it is opened anyway) Great Stuff, Maynard!!!!
