Have Become My Kids' Toys
I was so excited to find the Dryer Max Dryer Balls as an alternative to dryer sheets. I grew up with my mom using dryer sheets, but I always found the fragrance way too strong. Plus, the thrifty part of me hated the thought of throwing something away every single load of laundry. To me, dryer balls provided a cost effective way to dry my clothing while reducing static electricity and decreasing drying time, thus saving energy. These balls do cut drying time if you have at least four. Six is ideal. They do this by creating loft as the dryer spins to enhance circulation between your clothes. However, my biggest complaint is that the spikes or spines caused my clothes to wear out so much faster. They do add a noise element to dryer loads, but that didn't bother me. My other issue is that they are made of plastic. The plastic inevitably breaks down under the intense heat of the dryer, leaching chemicals and toxins into my clothing. I could see the balls breaking down after just a few loads. I switched to all-natural wool dryer balls.
