It sounded like a super idea at the time

budget-conscious, looking for ways to be green, not rich, appreciative of good service, cost-conscious, expecting good, fair service

Balls bang loudly in the dryer, They don't last long, my burst open, expensive compared to use

I bought these things to eliminate the need for dryer sheets ( which have been reported to cause build up on lint screens and potentially result in fire hazards) or liquid softener ( which builds up in fabrics overtime, can make some fabrics discolor or seem sticky to the touch) and generally to save money. The idea isn't so different than when our mother's used to throw a clean tennis shoe in the dryer to fluff up towels and blankets when we were little kids....so I forked over my $9.99 and took them home to start using immediately. Yes the clothing was nice and fluffy and yes, I wasn't spending money for additional softening products....but the silly things fell apart after about 15 loads. Looked my dogs had chewed them up-first they split in half after about 9-10 loads, and by 15, I was picking bits of rubber off of everything in my dryer and wondering if the rubber fragments weren't a fire hazard as well. Also wondered if the pieces would melt onto the clothing and ruin it. It was awfully expensive for the amount of service that I got from the set...the thought did cross my mind if you couldn't accomplish the same thing more cheaply with racquetballs or even tennis balls with minimal fuzz on them....have to check into the resistence to heat on those items.
