We buy for them all the time for our cats and especially my birds. We now live very far from the city, so it's hard to get good and fresh bird supplies without paying a premium, so we've found that for most items, this company has a good collection of items that we like and that are fairly priced. You can't find most of their items cheaper unless you're lucky enough to find them in a local store, and most of their stuff is hard to find in person. Ease of Use No problem using the site. However, I do have to say that during the past few years they've started separating their division (based on animals) so that you can't combine orders for fish, cats, and birds and use the total as if it's all coming from one place to qualify for cheaper shipping. So to compensate for that, I only buy when item are deeply discounted and/or on sale at really, really good discounts. Product Selection Very good and diversified. I can find most anything I want with this company. Product Pricing A little high for some things, but they're not available to me any other way. Customer Service I got an item I was upset about one or two times, and they instantly gave me a credit (and let me keep the product) with no questions asked. One of the items, in fact, they changed the description of in the catalog because I had complained that it had been measured incorrectly!

I ordered from Drs. Foster and Smith for the first time about two weeks ago. I bought 40 pounds of the Drs. Foster and Smith brand ferret food to switch my 4 ferrets over to. One of the best parts about dr foster and smith is that no matter what I am looking for normaly I can find it.They have so many different catagories on there website. And not just for cats and dogs either. They have a big selection for other animals also. I have ordered numerous times from them for my three dogs. They have a great selection of dog treats and misc items that are hard to find other places. Dr foster and smith will also fill perscriptions from your vet and it is really easy. They have an extensive library of articles written to help pet owners, and give great advice. They have great customer service before you order and also after you order. they are great if you have a problem with your order or other concerns. They stay intouch with you also once you order and let you know your shipping info too. My favorite part is all the christmas puppy gifts, great selection!

Have been using the website to purchase my pet supplies for over 2 years now. I got tired of paying the price at the vet/vet supply site that were sometimes twice the price that I can get items on Drs. Foster and Smith site. I have been amazed at the amount of money I can save on heartworm meds, tick and flea meds, prescription shampoo, and various snacks that my dogs favor. I save over fifty dollars on heartworm/flea medicine alone. The snacks my dogs love are usually out of stock or discontinued by local pet stores but I can always find them at Foster and Smith and usually at a discounted price compared to name brand pet stores. The best thing about Foster/Smith is the fact that I always get free shipping. To qualify, you have to spend $49 or more or it is always free if buying heartworm/flea & tick medicine. Then it is delivered right to your front door so that you don't waste gasoline driving to the namebrand pet store only to find that they are out of your product. Foster/Smith will call your vet if you need a prescription med and you don't have to mess with anything to get it done. I love Doctors Foster and Smith.

Fish supplies are REALLY inexpensive, especially filter cartrigdes.  Even including shipping, I can get 12 "Rite Size C" filters for under $30.  If I were to buy the same at a pet supply shop, I'd be paying nearly twice that!  Also excellent prices on flea prevention products!

Today, this firm just lost a good customer over a $5 online coupon. I went online to order refills of my dog's prescription medicine, and used an online coupon.  The Web site accepted the coupon, and priced my order with the discount.  I authorized payment to PayPal based on that amount. Later, I received an email from "customer service" telling me that the coupon had expired and that I owed an additional $5 for my order.  Problem is, I used Paypal--and had no way to increase the amount authorized after the order was placed. Contacting Customer Support just wasted about an hour of my time, because even the rep didn't know what to do in this situation.   My dog can't wait for her meds while this firm sorts it out, so I cancelled the order and went elsewhere for her prescription. Bottom line:  if an online coupon is expired, I expect the Web site to reject it.  If the site accepts it and applies it to an order--and if you PAY based on that acceptance--I expect DrsFosterSmith.com to honor it.   Big waste of time, poor customer service.

I first started using this site to buy ferret supplies.  The site that I usually used partnered with Drs. Foster and Smith.  That actually made it easier to buy products for all of my pets at the same time. This site has a great selection of supplies for any pet.  They have competitive prices too.  Since I started ordering from them I get small catalogs and some emails to alert me of sales and specials.  The shipping is really fast, I've only waited 2 or 3 days at a time for my shipments. The only thing I don't like about this site is they don't have any deals on shipping.  Most sites offer free shipping after spending a certain amount of money.  Not this one.  If I'm going to buy online, I usually try to get the most for my money, and if I have to buy more supplies (that I'll need anyway) to save on shipping then that's what I'll do.  I wish this site would catch on, they'd probably get more sales this way.  Now I only buy the things i can't get in the stores near me.  All of the other supplies I get while I'm out buying other items. I do recommend this site to anyone who buys their pets "special" items that are hard to find in regular brick and mortar stores.  Also, since the prices are competitive it is worth comparing prices at this site when shopping for supplies.
