Poor quality.

My cat does not like drinking from a bowl. I would have to turn on my bathroom sink and allow her to drink out of that. It was an inconvenience for myself and my cat, so I decided to purchase a fountain for her instead. I figured with the fountain she would not have to wait for me when she was thirsty. I purchased the Drs. Foster and Smith Cat Fountain online because their website had good reviews. Sadly, this product did not live up to my expectations and left my kitchen floor soaked. This is a simple enough device to use. You remove the top and put the water in. It creates a steady flow of water, which my cat loved. After a few weeks the device began needing filled up much more frequently. When it gets low it begins to loudly gurgle. Then I noticed it was actually leaking. At first I thought my cat was playing in the fountain and making a mess. But the water was actually coming out of the bowl. I ended up purchasing a different fountain because this one was making too much of a mess. I do not recommend this product. Quality of Ingredients Not applicable for this item. Great to keep kitties hydrated!

4

My kitten developed a urinary tract infection because he wasn't drinking enough water. After doing some research online, I learned that cats prefer running water and a drinking fountain like this one would help to keep him healthy overall. I bought the fountain and although it was a little expensive, it was worth it! At first the cats were a little scared of the fountain because it makes a low humming noise, but eventually they got thirsty and curious enough to try it out and I notice the one who had the urinary tract infection and didn't drink a lot of water certainly drinks a lot more since we bought the fountain. The only thing I would suggest - they offer both plastic and stainless steels drinking fountains. The stainless steel fountains are a lot more expensive, so I passed on it, thinking it wouldn't be a big deal. Then I found out some cats prefer to drink out of metal. I put water in a metal mixing bowl to see if that was the case for my cats and noticed they drink out of the metal bowls more than anything else - so if you don't mind spending the extra money, I'd suggest buying a stainless steel cat fountain to hydrate your kitties even more and make them happier.

Easy to Clean Pet fountain, but badly designed

3

I bought this fountain after giving up on another.  It looked like it would be easier to clean and maintain.  In some senses it was.  There are very minimal pieces to this, its easy to clean and take apart.  There is only one tube which means you don't need some fancy brush set to clean it with all these different sizes.  The bad side is that its unique design creates other problems.  This fountain is a pain to fill.  You have to options, remove the top and fill the base, or try to fill it from the top.  If you take the top off it takes a while to really figure out how much is really enough (or ie: how much *isn't* enough.)  If you try to fill it from the top you need a very fine stream and a lot of patience.  Just a little too much and all the water you are trying to fill it with just pours over the lip onto the floor.  (This same lip causes my dogs to spill water out onto the floor all the time, its just not big enough.)  Because the base is rather small you have to fill the fountain every day or every day and a half at best.  The more you let it get too low the more you stress the motor and the sooner it breaks.  \ This isn't a bad pet fountain.  In the end it works fine - but it is high maintence.  It is less fussy in some manners then others but I just find its more hassle then I'd rather deal with.  I'd rather have more awakward scrubbing weekly with other models then the annoying time consuming daily fills with this one.

Leaky and inconvenient

1

This water fountain has been a complete failure! It needs water added many, many times per day, as evidenced by the loud sucking noises and diminshing flow of water from the spout, yet every time water is added it dribbles over the lip of the bowl onto the floor until the water level reaches some unknowable equilibrium, which lasts about thirty minutes. Within an hour no water is flowing from the spout and the whole process must be repeated, complete with the swabbing up of water from the floor aroind the fountain. And adding water is no simple process--the entire top must be removed first. HUGE waste of money--buy a Drinkwell fountain instead..

Easy to clean but shallow bowls leak water on the floor.

Unfortunately we were disappointed in this cat fountain and cannot recommend it. We bought it because it was smaller and easier to clean than other models. However, we found that the dish leaked water onto the floor very easily due to the shallow design of the bowls on top. Any small splashes that accumulated around the edges from the cat drinking easily rolled over the sides to the floor. Perhaps if the bowl were deeper this would not be a problem.
