Dreft Laundry Detergent Review Summary

Dreft Laundry Detergent "keeps things nice and soft for your young one." This laundry detergent is extra gentle and made with the purpose of washing babies' clothes in mind. Those that debated over whether or not to spend the extra money on this product are glad they did, as "the baby's clothes always come out clean and smelling good." In addition to that, Dreft is also hypoallergenic and safe to use on clothing of people of all ages, reducing the need to use one product on the baby's clothes and a separate detergent such as All Free and Clear Laundry Detergent on the rest of the family's clothes. The downside to Dreft Laundry Detergent is that it is more expensive than regular laundry detergent, and it's not a product that normally goes on sale.

This detergent is not cheap, but unless you are doing baby laundry all the time, it will last for a few weeks. I debated whether to buy it or not and glad we did. The Baby's clothes always come out clean and smelling good. It keeps clothes looking new. It's hypoallergenic, so I know it's not going to... review »

I used to think Dreft was only for washing baby clothes, but I now wash our whole family's clothing with Dreft.

If you have sensitive skin...

  • After a few bouts of major rashes with regular laundry detergents, even those that claim to be hypoallergenic, "free," and the like, I have resorted to using Dreft...

Dreft Laundry Detergent

I love this product!  I bought it at the recommendation of a friend who just had a baby.  She said it was safe and gentle to use for infant laundry.

......that was 2 years ago....and I am still using this product!  Here's the best part:

I use it on my clothes too!!!  It makes everything smell so gentle and soft, just like a newborn baby (the clean version, like right after they got out of the tub).  :)

I would give Dreft 5 stars, but....it costs more than regular laundry detergent, there's NEVER any on sale, and it's so hard to get coupons.

BUT.....I do believe...

I bought a HUGE bottle of this stuff and can't get rid of it fast enough.  I really don't like it.  Unless your baby has EXTREMELY sensitive skin, this stuff is a total waste.  And even if your baby DOES have EXTREMELY sensitive skin, you might be better off just buying some all natural brand...NOT DREFT.  It smells okay and cleans okay...but not worth the money.  If your baby has regular skin and isn't overly sensitive, use your normal detergent (liquid) and put it on second rinse...then you are good to go...

Spend your extra money that you'll save on a nice massage for you...

This product is just over priced. It doesnt even seem like it gets the laundry clean in my opinion and having to sort the baby things off by themself is just more of a hassle. After realizing that this product wasn't doing the babies anything positive, I can now just wash their clothing with ours and save some of my valuable time. If you had a baby with really sensitive skin it might be worth the money and hassle.

Dreft may be gentle.  A little too gentle.  It got nothing out of my son's clothes.  The first time I used it I wondered if I had forgotten to add it to the wash because everything was still stained.  We switched to another dye and fragrance free and much less expensive laundry detergent that actually works.  Don't bother with Dreft.

This is a great product for infants who have skins allergies or extremely sensitive skin.  I used it extensively with my first child due to skin irritations. The product has a very light smell.  The product is a bit expensive but for children with sensitivity to laundry products it is an excellent selection.

This product is great for peace of mind if you are a concerned mother and are concerned with heavy perfumed products this is a great alternative.  For mothers who have children with allergies, this is a great option for laundry products.

I would recommend this product to any new mom...

I love Dreft. i have been using since my son was born and absolutly love the smell. I found it takes out stains perfect and made the clothing look and feel great! The only problem is I have a High Efficiency washing machine and this formula is not made in HE format. I contacted the company to see if there was one available or if they planned on introducing one soon and they told me they were not, a huge disappointment. They did recommend I use Tide Free in place of it, it is available in HE and is safe for use on all the baby's washables. I have since switched but I really miss that great baby...

I am here to state my review on Dreft laundry detergent. I have a two year old, and when i first had him i thought i had to use the Dreft detergent so ofcourse like most good mothers i went out and spent triple of what i spend on ym laundry detergent because i thought it's what i had to use. Two more experienced mothers i knew informed me that they use ALL clear. It has a little duckie on the bottle. I tryed it and have had no problems with it. It works great. With dreft i paid atleast double what i pay for ALL. Like many other mothers have noticed Dreft dosn't take a lot of the stains out. All... review »

Dreft laundry soap was the first soap I bought to do my babies laundry.  I just "knew" it would work better than anything else and since sensitive skin runs in the family I was really worried about hurting him.  I used it and it did work great.  His clothes smelled nice and he never got a rash or anything.  The next time I needed soap I was at a store that didn't have the big jug and I didn't want to pay about as much for a small one, so I tried the store brand.  It worked exactly the same!  The scent was the same, it cleaned and no rash for my baby!  I learned my lesson that you don't always...

We bought Dreft when our son was born and have been using it ever since. My husband and son both have sensitive skin and Dreft doesn't bother them at all. Plus, my husband loves the smell. It is expensive, but we have an HE washer so a box lasts us quite a while. Also Dreft is sold at BJs and Costco so that helps too.

Dreft detergent has been a life saver, my daughter has very sensitive skin and this detergent has done the trick. Not to mention keeps her clothing in great shape.

Pros: Great for sensitive skin, good clean smell, and keeps clothing in great condition.

Cons: Hard to find the bigger size

I used this for the first few months with my first baby because that is what your supposed to do right?  Then I thought about it one day, why am I paying so much extra for something that doesn't really do that well on stains, is NEVER on sale, and is SCENTED (which is one thing that most people with sensitive skin, babies inccluded, cause a reaction)  so I switched to ALL Free & Clear.

It's on sale a lot more often, does WAAAAY better on stains and they make a formula for high efficiency washers which Dreft does not.

I have used this product before with my two children, and Dreft Laundry Detergent deffinately is one of the most popular detergents for infants. I will say, it smells fantastic! I love the smell. I do not like how it does not always get the stains out, though. Babies do get messy, they poop all over everything and spit up, etc. , but the stain does not come out about half the time. The detergent is EXTREMELY mild, which is good for your baby, though, and that for me outweighed any staining issues that I had with this product. Also, it is EXTREMELY expensive, and a lot of the other "off brand" detergents...
