To the Point — We just finished listening to the excellent audio book- CD - by Barack Obama called Dreams from My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance. It was a terrific autobiography that my husband and I both very much enjoyed. — A Closer View — This is a 6-CD set. The book was originally written right after Barack Obama graduated from Harvard Law School. If you have been hiding under a rock Obama is running for President on the Democratic ticket. Being a single, white mother of a teenage, Aftrican-American son, I was naturally drawn to Barack Obama's telling of his life. There were so many aspects of his story with which I was able to identify that it is difficult to justly summarize them here. And the only dreams he has are rising to the top of his political profession, by…

Although this book deals more with his personal history, a sense of the man behind the politics, it still hints at his positions and gives a great sense of him as a man of character, commitment, and common sense. Based on this and the more clunky, but still reasoned and intelligent Audacity of Hope, he has my vote! …
