There is a tremendous need for all pet owners to educate themselves about the ingredients in commercial dog food, that is if they truly are concerned about the health and welfare of their pet. We incorrectly assume that if a well known brand name is printed on the package or can, then the contents are truly safe and  highly nutrional providing a balanced diet  for our beloved pets. The stark reality is that most commercial pet foods contain unidentified additives, preservatives and  dyes that are known by the pet food manufacturers to cause cancers, kidney and liver diseases, as well as a host of other medical conditions. It is a sad but true fact that when you see "animal fats" listed on the package, those animal fats are the result of the addition of euthanized cats and dogs from the pound, collars and all. Is it any wonder that we have a very high incidence of kidney and liver failures in our pets or that the rate of cancers has risen tremenously?
