Before my baby girl was born, I did a lot of reading about new baby products (because our kids have quite an age difference and a lot of new stuff have come out recently), and Dr. Brown's bottles were the only bottles to get a popularity award from parents/readers of American Baby magazine. That caught my eye, so we bought these bottles for our baby. I know many people complained that they are hard to clean, so I immediately set up a convenient system of cleaning them - I put a basin of soapy water by the kitchen sink and once the baby finishes her bottle I disassemble it immediately and put it into the water to soak until I am ready to clean it.
It may be a little intimidating at first, because it's so different from other bottles with all the new unusual parts, but once you get the hang of assembling it, it becomes second nature.
There's only one thing that bothered me about these bottles. They recommend to mix formula separately and then pour into bottles instead of mixing the formula in the bottle. I have always prefered to mix formula in the bottle and give it to my baby right away instead of waiting for it to be warmed up after having been refregerated. When I tried shaking the bottle with water and powdered formula the way you would normally do with other bottles, it didn't work very well, bubbles were created and sometimes the bottle leaked. So I started using a straw to mix the water and formula in the bottle, and if the baby didn't need it right away, I'd shake it a little and let it stand for a few minutes for the bubbles to settle down.
