With my first child, I used the least expensive bottles I could find. However, I kept finding that they would break and my son seemed to have problems with gas and spitting up. My sister used only Dr. Brown's plastic bottles with her two kids and they seemed to work great, so I figured I would give them a try. While they are more expensive than your basic Gerber bottles, they were worth the investment. The air flow system enables my new daughter to drink straight through and only needs to burp once at the end. In fact, when I try to burp her midway through, I am never successful as she doesn't seem to take in much air. They are much more durable than your basic Gerber bottles. I am currently using some that my sister let me borrow as well, so they are being used for a third baby and are holding up great. There are a few negative aspects to this bottle, which is why I didn't give them five stars. They are a bit of a hassle to clean as each bottle has 7 separate pieces. Also, unless you are diligent about putting the round discs underneath the nipple, you will find that they will leak in your diaper bag if they don't remain completely upright. I find that my daughter never seems to cry over gas far outweighs these negative aspects though.
