Despite changes in formula over the years still one of the best

Long before organic, green, and environmental consciousness were the marketing buzz words, my family was running our household with as few damaging chemicals as possible. One of the products that we started using back then was Dr. Bronner's Peppermint Castile Liquid Soap.

Dr Bronner's Peppermint Castile Liquid Soap has always come in various sizes from 2 oz to 1 gallon containers. This soap has changed over the years so if you have used it a long time ago, it might not be what you expected now. That can be good or bad depending on what you are expecting.

Dr Bronner's Peppermint Castile Liquid Soap is a very light amber colored liquid which is runnier than it used to be. The ingredients are pure and natural with no sodium lauryl sulfate in it. The formula is concentrated which means that it is best used diluted for most uses,

You can use Dr Bronner's Peppermint Pure Castile Soap for many things. Here are a few of the things you can use this for

  • showers
  • hair (a bit harsh for most hair)
  • pet shampoo
  • dishes
  • hand washing
  • general household cleaner
  • floor washing
  • makeup brush cleaner

Although it is not cheap (but is not overly expensive either), Dr Bronners Peppermint Castile Liquid Soap lasts quite a while. If used diluted for most applications, it goes a lot farther than most other soaps. It is well worth the purchase.

Although it is available in natural food stores and some grocery stores around here now, it used to be hard to find.

We used to get it at www.drugstore.com or www.vitaminshoppe.com

I find that using it with the Clarisonic Body Brush, it cleans skin beautifully and really helps the skin in contrast to most of the body cleansers people use with the Clarisonic Plus system and body brush that have sodium lauryl sulfate or similar chemicals in it. The other cleansers tend to cause lots of skin problems but Dr Bronner's Peppermint Castile Soap works great without the irritation to the skin. I do find that although the newer formula is not as drying as it used to be, I still need body butter after using it. Dr Bronner's Peppermint Castile Soap leaves the skin very clean but the newer formula does not strip the skin oils as much as the older version used to, I still have some of the older formula for comparison and the family has noticed that the newer formula is gentler on the skin, leaving it more moisturized than it used to,

The one thing you have to be cautious about is that the Peppermint oil in this soap can be tingly and some people might find this irritating. Most people enjoy it and I like it in the shower- it is invigorating. You have to be careful using it around the face, however. It is too strong to use near the eye area.
