I found Download Provider in my search for a downloadable audiobook that I needed for one of my classes.  They were one of the only places that had a downloadable version so I signed up for a trial subscription (3 days for $4.95 or so).  When I went to download the audiobook it wouldn't let me and then I noticed in bold red letters that my status was still 'Unpaid'...I figured it probably just had to clear my bank (I used my debit card) before it would let me download.  I waited until the next day and when I checked my bank account online I noticed that the $4.97 charge had come out...along with two charges from the same place for $1 each...and a day later another charge for $39.  I also notice starting the following day that I am now getting spam that are very obviously hardcore porn related with subject headings all relating to beastiality...sweet.  I have not opened a single one and prefer not to but I realize now that this site has pretty obviously sold my email address to some marketing company.  I call the number provided on my billing statement and it takes me to an automated service...I spend over an hour on the phone punching in the various options hoping to get to a live person to no avail...all options lead to a message that says that due to high call volume they cannot take my call and I get hung up on.  It does refer me to their site which I go to in order to see if I can get different contact info...and *voila* there is a cancelation page...which gives me an error message that their system is having difficulties after I fill the stupid thing out.  I sent emails to them using their page and have yet to recieve any reply.  I also go back to the original site and send them emails from there as well...no reply.  Oh, and my status still says 'Unpaid'...even though they have ripped me off for over $50 at this point...and I'm sure I'll see more come out before I get an answer.  I am going to have to cancel my debit card to shake them, I'm sure of it.

Update on my first review: They got me for another $39 charge in addition to a $9.97 charge within a day or so of my first review. I canceled my card through my bank but it doesn't look like they are going to be able to help out much in the way of getting my money back. I finally did recieve an email from the company which, in short, read "Your account has been canceled. Please do not reply to this email"...of course this was after they had scammed nearly $100 from me. Not helpful.

This sounds like a major bummer... sorry about all the trouble with this. I will never use anything other than a credit card on the Internet. Anything else is too easy to scam, and it's easy enough scamming a credit card.

Good review!
