I really picked up a bad choice in night creams when I decided to try Dove Pro Age Rich Night Cream. It sounded good and I usually have no problem with Dove products, but this one stinks!

Dove Pro Age Rich Night Cream

This product comes in a small 1.69 oz. jar with the signature red "Pro Age" lid. It is designed to give back to your skin what it needs right now--moisture, and is especially formulated for aging skin that is losing its elasticity. it retails for around $10.99 a jar.

It is not a miracle cure and doesn't claim to be. Dove Pro Age Rich Night Cream contains emollients to condition the skin and help the skin cells rejuvanate and glycerin for deep moisturization and firming skin.

Ingredients

Water (Aqua), CyclopentaSiloxane, Glycerin, Caprylyl Methicone, Dimethicone, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, PEG 10 Dimethicone, Olea Europaea Fruit Oil (Olive), Linoleic Acid, Stearic Acid, Cholesterol, Acrylates Crosspolymer, Stearyl Dimethicone, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Zinc Oxide, PEG 10, Fragrance (Parfum), Disodium EDTA, DMDM Hydantoin, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate, Titanium Dioxide.

My Viewpoint

I was first turned off by the fragrance of Dove Pro Age Rich Night Cream. When you open the jar, you will be surprised to find how strong the scent is. It is so strong it takes awhile to figure out exactly what it smells like or is supposed to smell like. At first it resemebles a heavy floral scent, but that turns to a total funky smell in just a few minutes as the product dries. It's not very pleasant to put on your face.

I only used Dove Pro Age Rich Night Cream a couple of times. I really wanted to like it but I can't take the strong funky scent. It reminds me of an old lady scent and I don't think I'm quite ready for that classification...thank you!

I did like the way this night cream provided lots of moisture. It wasn't greasy and seemed to do a decent job of moisturizing. If Dove would make a non-scented version of this product I would buy it again, however, this one is not for me! I do not recommend this product unless you like heavy scented face creams.

I am very surprised that it is even still on the market . Dove Pro Age stinks!

OMG, I hated the scent too. Why do they think we want some funky scent on our faces anyway?

I hope so!

That's too bad about the scent. I don't blame you for not wanting to fall asleep alongside that smell! Maybe if Dove hears from enough consumers, they'll modify the formula.

that is too bad, Dove is usually great!

Old lady scent, eh? Think I'd avoid it too...

vivasuzi wrote on Jan 14, 2008 at 11:07AM

I never understood why they have to through scents into every product. Seems like it would be easier and cheaper to make it non-scented

Glad I read this. I usually like Dove products, but I'm very sensitive to smell so if it's unpleasant I would have had to just toss it. You saved me $10.99 :)

a strong scent of anything close to your nose is a turn off for me. You have to think the research team had colds when they formulated this one! Ron
