The DoubleTree' Hotel Crystal City-National Airport in Arlington, Virginia, offered comfortable surroundings, easy access to a indoor pool, a romantic restaurant that overlooked the city "Windows Over Washington", a nightclub 15 stories up called the "SkyDome" and a lovely cafe for a great breakfast buffet. Our room had a king size bed with luxurious bedding, a desk with computer hook-up to the internet, two comfortable sidechairs, and a 3 piece bedroom set inclusive with a 30" television. My stay at the Doubletree Crystal City was fine, but nothing special. The fire alarm went off in the middle of the night because some children were running around the hotel and played a prank. We were given complimentary breakfast the next day, but they only gave us one free breakfast, while there were two of us staying in the room. Also, the breakfast buffet was terrible, so it didn't really feel like compensation. My stay at the Double-Tree Hotel Crystal City, DC was terrific. The room was extremely large with 2 full beds, 3 chairs, a sofa, and a desk.The bathroom/vanity area was marvelous with the size. Plenty of room for 2 to 4 people even though I was the only one. If I had to critique the vanity area I would say that the lighting could have been better. I realize they are trying to conserve on energy, but I needed more light to put on my make-up properly. The Doubletree Hotel in Crystal city is convenient and that is what you are paying for...the convenince to the airport, highmays, metro and restaurants. I thought the place needs a new look and cleaning but it is adequate. Two hotel clerks handling check in and out is frustrating if you are in a rush. Try to deal with the automatic checkout process...much quicker. It is a great hotel for all the other options and if you like to run or walk the trail is nearby. The rooms are very nice and the hotel staff couldn't have been nicer. The bar service was a bit slow, but I chalk that up to the 12,000 people we had in town for the conference. The beds are very comfortable and the facilities are very clean. They have a shuttle service to and from the airport as well as to and from the pentagon mall.
