Outstanding location for transit into DC, and at a 1/3 of the price of being in city. It's located in Virginia, across the river from DC, but hotels can be incredibly expensive there, and the Doubletree is a full fledged bargain compared to the hotels in the nation's Capitol. It's also a very nice place to hang your hat for your business or pleasure trip, and they offer free shuttle transit from Reagan National Airport.
Just blocks from the Pentagon, and 2 1/2 blocks from the Pentagon City Metro stop, where the blue or yellow line can whisk you to the city. There's a Starbucks in the main lobby for those blurry eyed morning meetings, with a restaurant serving breakfast not ten steps away. Dining and drinks can be had in their rotating glassed restaurant on the top floor, offering terrific views of the Pentagon, Washington DC, and for plane watchers, it's also on the flight path for National. I found the food at the Doubletree to be acceptable, and quite reasonably priced.
The rooms are more than adequate, and the suites are quite well suited for business or pleasure, with a sitting area and a TV in both the bedroom and the sitting area. Robes and an iron are also supplied by the hotel. For those needing help navigating the DC area, the concierge's desk is right next to the hotel check in, and has a variety of maps of the city, and Metro maps as well at no charge.
It's consistently my first choice for travel in DC.
