Dollar General Wooden Farm Animal Puzzle Review

The Dollar General Wooden Farm Animal Puzzle is a thick wooden puzzle with a knob on each piece. It has eight puzzle pieces in it, including:

• a black and white cow
• a brown horse
• a pink pig
• a multi-colored duck (one of my daughter's favorites at the moment)
• a white sheep
• a multi-colored rooster
• a beige dog with a bone
• a farmer on a tractor pulling two kids in a wagon behind it

This puzzle was only about $2.00 at Dollar General, and it is sturdy and has survived my house for a few years now. The knobs are all intact, and the pictures are still on the puzzle. The pieces fit nicely into the puzzle and sit flush with the base piece.

It is particularly well-suited for small children because it has a matching picture of each piece under the puzzle piece. My 5-year-old is learning to read and enjoys reading the name of each animal that is also printed on the base under each puzzle piece. The matching pictures really help the very young ones when they are first learning to work a puzzle.

The knobs could be a safety hazard, especially for children who like to put things in their mouths, so I'd advise close supervision of small children who are working this puzzle.

This Dollar General Wooden Farm Animal Puzzle has stood the test of time at our house. It is sturdy, colorful, and easy to work with matching pictures on the base. Kids can practice learning how to work puzzles and also practice animal sounds while they work the puzzle.
