Actually I usually wait until Dollar General has a sale at the end of the season and get two packets for a quarter or less! With three small daughters and lots of yard, I decided to plant flower beds. Each year I try to add a little more. I enjoy the perennials, but they tend to be more expensive. Unless I dig up starts from the neighbor's yard or from my Mom or sister's yards for free.
Dollar General's seed packets let me add a splash of color to my flower beds for very little cost. The kids LOVE to help plant seeds, and after I prepare the soil, they giggle and smile as they throw seeds everywhere. It also teaches children the idea of not having instant gratification--nope, the flowers aren't up yet, but we'll watch for them every day. Unlike most perennials, which are planted in the Fall, most of these seeds are planted in the Spring, so the gratification is much sooner. They also attract butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees.

My Viewpoint:
I use Dollar General seeds to add a splash of color to my flower beds. It is also a great and inexpensive way to teach children about gardening, responsibility and caring for the Earth.
