Animal rescue's are the only way to go to adopt a pet. Your pet is family and is your best friend. They should be adopted not sold.

Rescue's need all the help they can get with money, donations of common things they use to maintain an animal until they find a forever home.  They especially need volunteers to help with the day to day duties.

I used to foster dogs until the state made it impossible to do this from your home. Many dogs found good homes. They just needed a little help on the way to finding their forever homes and I used to give it to them.

I've been an animal lover (note ANIMAL lover - I'm not selective) all of my life.  I became a vegetarian at age 17 and have never turned back!  I started as a "cat person", but rescued my first dog from, of all places, a cat shelter at which I volunteered.  It was the best decision that I ever made!!  I missed out on having a dog in my life for WAY too long.  I now am owned by three cats and two dogs - all rescues.  I've done volunteer work at shelters, hurricane rescues and shelter pet transports.  I tell you, friends, it's the best feeling in the WORLD to know that you've helped prevent...

I have been involved with rescue for most of my adult life ( I am 40 ish). If you are looking to add a new addition to your family then your local rescue is where it's at.

 if you are looking for a purebred most breeds have a rescue dedicated soley to that breed.

 I have been a member/volunteer for the German Shepherd Rescue of New England for close to 10 years now.  They are a wonderful group of dedicated people saving German Shepherds throughout the New England States. Many would surely be dead if they had not stepped up to help this beautiful animal.

We have 4 dogs, 3 are rescues, we have 6 cat, 5 are rescues and 1 bunny.  If I could afford the vet bills I would have a ton more animals.  We have 4.31 acres so space is not a problem, just MONEY  :(. 

 We have a humane society: High Forest Humane Society and they are wonderful.  Some of the members have upwords of 20 dogs they are fostering until a home can be found for them.  As with most animal rescue organizations they run on a shoestring budget but have a lot of support from the city they are in.  The Vet (now my vet) is wonderful about helping them with spay/neuter.

There are thousands of animals being needlessly euthanized every day.  Purchasing an animal from a breeder is helping to lead to many of these deaths.  Many animals in shelters and rescues are full bred.  Please don't shop, Adopt!

Rescuing a dog can be one of the greatest things you ever do.  You just can't imagine how much fun and love a good dog can bring into your life.  I have rescued a couple dogs in my life and have never been sorry.

Sunshine Golden Retriever Rescue LLC is a group run by all volunteers that save golden retrievers from shelters and families no longer able to keep their pet.   The group is highly organized and accepts applications which are then screened and if all criteria are met, approved.  Foster families care for the goldens and assess the homeless dog.  A matching process then takes place and the committee matches the dog to the family that can meet the dog's needs.  The goal is to find the golden its forever home.
