My husband, daughter and I drove by the animal shelter one day and decided just to stop in and look around. To our suprise, as we were looking around when a Doberman Pinscher stood up on his hind legs and started making whining sounds like he was calling us over. My husband went up to him to pet him and there was an immediate bond. We were allowed to take him outside for a walk and it was like he knew us. We decided to adopt him that day. As my husband asked the the shelter employee questions about the dog. I looked at a little female Terrier Mix in the kennel next to the Doberman's. She would make a great indoor dog but she was a few years old and I knew that we needed a 2 or 3 month old puppy that we could train to be indoors and that would adapt well to my daughter. As I looked at the Terrier's chart that was posted on the gate, I noticed that it stated that she had a 2 month old puppy. When I inquired about it, I was told that it was available to adopt but was not at the shelter at the time, she had been taken to the local TV Studio to help promote pet adoption. We decided to adopt the puppy based on her chart and the description from the shelter employee and because she was the only puppy available at the time. The next day when I went to the Vet's office to pick up the dogs, the Doberman came directly to me and rubbed up against my legs like he knew exactly who I was. It was amazing.
Not only did we have an immediate bond with the dogs, but the dogs bonded as well. The Doberman, Maximus, loves to play with the puppy, Miley, who is one-tenth his size.
