Animal rescue's are the only way to go to adopt a pet. Your pet is family and is your best friend. They should be adopted not sold.
Rescue's need all the help they can get with money, donations of common things they use to maintain an animal until they find a forever home. They especially need volunteers to help with the day to day duties.
I used to foster dogs until the state made it impossible to do this from your home. Many dogs found good homes. They just needed a little help on the way to finding their forever homes and I used to give it to them.
I adopted a dog who is my world 5 years ago. He was 10 months and totally abused. He is the most wonderful dog. His name is Mr. Mitchell. He is my best friend.
I adopted a cat 3 months ago. She is a year and a half. She is quite the character. Her name is Cassy.
Older pets are a lot harder to adopt out then babies. The adults are the ones that really need our help and love. They have so much love to give back. In many cases the adults are trained or learn very quickly unlike babies.
Please consider adopting an adult when looking for a loving companion. It is the best feeling being loved unconditionally by an animal.
