I have owned many breeds of dogs, but was blown away by mt last, Katie - a small female Doberman.  I would have never considered picking one as a pet until one day someone tossed her from their car in the park. She is gentle and sensitive.  Katie loves games to play tug of war.  She is also very protective emitting a low growl to let me know when something threatening is near but she is not aggressive. She does not like cats and is slow to warm up to strange dogs. The dog park is not her cup of tea but she loves the local nature park where all dogs are on a leash.

I only have to show her something once she always remembers except house training was more difficult than oher breeds because she would only lay her head on my lap when she  needed to go out and it took me awhile to figure out that was her signal. She is a very quiet.
