we are just fortunate to be in their world.

I have had dachshunds around me since I was a baby. The first one was very protective of me, and she was very much my best friend. Than when I was 15 years old I bought my dachshund that was very smart and could bark on cue to "How much is that doggie in the window".

I have been married for 10 years and have three dachshunds now. We have a 9 1/2 year old fixed male dachshund that is so in tuned to me, he knows when my migraines are hitting sometimes before I do, and he has also been the best around little kids. The most fun loving, curious, loveable, amusing, dogs that I can think of. Great with kids, love to snuggle. A dog that just acts like they are a 4 legged person. Loves to play and be played with. A breed that loves to travel and go for rides in the car or any other place as long a they are with you. They do not like to be left behind however, they would rather ride along with you and wait for you. And if you think the bed is yours - forget it! They just let you sleep there.

Best friend you'll ever have!!!

This breed is awesome. They are fun, loyal, great watch dogs ( watch, NOT guard) and always eager for a snuggle. Mine keeps me warm on cold winter nights, he's always snuggled into me under the blankets, and is like a major heat source. He's a happy, up-beat sort of fellow, with a happy wag of his tail for everyone he meets. Friends and strangers alike all like him.

I have 2 miniature dachshunds. The male now lives outside because he is and always has been very tempermental and he does not like children. I have an 18 month old. The female is the exact opposite. She loves my daughter. She's very protective of me and my daughter. The only time she has ever tried to bite was when she thought I was being harmed. She lets my daughter pull her ears and "pet" her really hard. She never gets mad. And she's the perfect lap dog. All she wants is a lap to sit in. And she's so smart. I have 2 smoothe haired red doxies that I just adore, Ollie and Lucy.

Dachshunds are very curious and smart, and though they may be small they have personalities the size of Texas.

They love to burrow under blankets and cuddle. I found that they are very easy to train and picked up commands very quickly.

They are also very loyal and once they become attached to you, they become your shadow.

The only draw back I have found is that they are prone to back problems but so far we have been lucky in that department. We have ramps that we use for them to get up and down the furniture which...

Most "mommy friendly" dog I've ever had

My pup is only 5 months old as I write this and I would highly recommend this breed to anyone! I'm normally more of a big dog person, but this little guy has the big dog attitude in a little dog package. He is VERY smart, loyal, and such a cuddler. Aside from stubborn issues over housebreaking (he likes to be sneaky about not wanting to go out if it's cold) he has been a very fast learner. He's great with our 7 year old grandson as well.

I can't begin to tell you how wonderful this breed is. Commical, loyal, and just a great all around dog. They don't need alot of space, just a bed and blanket and they are happy. They love to burrow under blankets and love companionship. They need attention as do all dogs and if properly socialized as pups love kids!! My dream is to own at least 5 when I retire!! I just can't resist them!!

I have 2 miniature dachshunds that are both certified therapy dogs for myself.

They are able to bring me out of a seizure, know when I am depressed and need them

and are great watchdogs. They are perfect for those that live in a small place and

just want love and affection. Both of ours were rescued.

I have a silver dapple dachshund and she is great! She plays and does silly tricks. She rarely barks-only if other dogs start it. She is happy playing or just sitting on your lap while you watch T.V. Walks well on a leash and rides good in car.

dashunds are the most wonderful dogs i have owned i have a silver dapple male and a chocolate female. my female is about to have puppies i love them so much any other doxie lovers out there??
