Australian Shepherds (Aussies) are fantastic dogs.  They are energetic, loyal, brilliant, and make great working dogs and/or pets.  My Aussie is the (pet) love of my life!  She is almost a year old and weighs about 45 pounds.  They are a great medium sized dog.  She is such a perfect companion too... she is very loyal and just loves to be in the same room as me.  When my fiance and daughter return from being out, she will almost knock them both down to get to me!

Aussies have a lot of energy and need daily exercise.  I wouldn't recommend an Aussie for someone who cannot take the dog for regular...

We had never even considered an aussie until I saw an ad in the paper for the right price.  I must say that we could not have ended up with a better dog.

Our australian shepherd is very sweet towards everyone and tends to be a little overly-affectionate.  She lives to play and loves performing tricks.  She is very easily bored, however, and is starting to become a little destructive when we don't give her enough attention/exercise.  She absolutely loves dogs and kids, and will try to get all animals to play with her, which is great except that she doesn't understand when an animal is telling...

my boyfriend and I have a 2 year old Australian Shepherd named Sadie and we love her to death. She is smart and beautiful and sweet. There is nothing that she wouldnt do for us. We bought her from a breeder online and had her shipped to us. She was just over 10 weeks old and she has been great since the day we got her. She was easy to potty train and listens to everything very well. She didnt get very big, she is only about 45 pounds. I am sure that has a lot to do with the fact that she is a female, but we really like her size. She has a very thick coat and we have had to have to groomed a few...

Australian shepherds are very protective dogs. My family and I have never had a problem with people bugging us with out dog outside. The Australian shepherds are also very loveable. Our dog spends most of her time with us inside the house. Our dog is the cinnamon color which is the rarest color of the Australian shepherd. They are not small dogs nor or they big. They are great for taking with you on car rides. They do not allow anyone they do not know get close to your car. Australian Shepherds can stay clean for a long time and water runs off their coat. It takes a while for them to get wet. Like... review »

I love my Australian Shep mix.  He is a great provider but does in fact have a lot of energy.  He is 5 years old now and is not even close to slowing down.

My only concern is we are expecting our first grand child and he has never been around children so I hope all works out.
