Pits get a bad wrap.  I own a beautiful six year old female red nose named Lillie.  She's been in my family since my oldest daughter was two.  In fact Lillie is as old as my youngest daughter Cameron.  Both of my girls grew up around her and they loved playing with her.  The only complaints I ever got about Lillie were that she licked people too much and that she would get too excited when I introduced her to new friends.  A lot of my friends have had pits and I could say similar praises for their dogs as well.  The great thing with this breed is that they all have different personalities and it is fun to hang out with them.  It's almost like being able to hang out with a different subculture.  Another great thing about Lillie is that she gets along with other dogs.  Most of the time at the dog park is spent playing with and chasing other dogs.  She gets especially excited to go to the dog beach.  Pits are a great breed and you should give them a try.

My dad has a pitt mix..and she's by FAR the sweetest dog we've ever had! We live on a 32 acre forest plot and we've had our share of animals come into our family. Alice (our pitt) is BY FAR the best dog we've ever had! She's loyal, and sweet, and she has SO MUCH personality. We were actually snowed in for a couple of days over the winter and my step mom started talking to Alice and it was so much fun to watch her sit there and look at my step mom like she was really listening or something. Also, my dad has a traveling job and anytime he leaves without Alice she gets upset. When he comes home, she'll be really excited until he comes inside and then she'll act like she's mad at him. She will wait for him to sit down on the couch then climb up and sit next to him with her back turned toward him and sigh, and sigh, and sigh until my dad kisses and loves on her and says he's sorry. I would NEVER worry about her with anyone or anything! I'll admit sometimes she doesn't know her own strength--but I still don't think she'd cause anyone harm (unless they were trying to harm our family) She's definitely the best addition to our family in the dog department!
