After seeing that Dodge was bringing back the Challenger an keeping the old school muscle car look I told my husband that it was time to give up our comfortable six year old Ford Escape and buy me a new car. We waited and waited and finally saw the SRT8 show up at our local dealership so we stopped in to have a look.

This car is gorgeous inside and out but with a $41,000.00 price tag and only selling over sticker price (we were told around $63,000.00) it was a little out of our budget. So, I was very happy to hear that Dodge was producing two different models starting around $20,000.00. We were told at the dealership that it would probably be next year before they started showing up though.

Since we were near the dealership over the weekend and saw that they had some new Challengers in stock we stopped by just to look. You should have seen my face when the sticker read $28,000.00. We instantly went home to pick up the Ford and back to the dealership to start the all day car buying process.

After some deep thought about either Brilliant Black Crystal Pearl or Inferno Red Crystal Pearl the red one won and is now making itself known at my house. Even though we purchased the base model it came equiped with a 3.5-liter SOHC high-output V6 engine, 4 speed automatic (stick shift not available yet), black leather seats and a year of Sirius satellite radio free, all for $25,645.00.

This car is roomy and comfortable on the inside with enough room to fit two adults in the back seat comfortably. My husband knows since he was back there for the test drive. The trunk is huge and has a 60/40 fold down option. I made the salesman open it first since that is an important feature when you have shopping to do. It did take some getting used to being so low to the ground after so many years in an SUV but I'm surviving.

Since the Challenger is not a common site on the road yet you will turn heads and that is fine by me. We are very, very happy with our choice and so glad Dodge priced the SE affordable enough for the working family to purchase and enjoy!

$63,000 for a Dodge? What are they thinking? ;-)

Hooray for you. Way to be a good shopper...
