Karen Kingsbury uses a modern day version of what she imagines Mary Magdalene would have been like in her novel, Divine. She also uses her work as a way to transform non-believers. She spreads the word about God being the only one who can truly love and protect you through her characters.

Mary, the main character of Divine, had a misfortunate childhood. She went through experiences no young girl should have to think of. As she grew up, she turned to drugs and men as a way of rebelling and trying to find her way in the world. But all the while, she wanted to believe in God and knew that there was...

Fabulous and moving.  I've read about all but 3 Karen Kingsbury books and really had no desire to read this one but didn't have anything else at the library.  Boy, was I glad.  This book is so different from any of her others books and was written beautifully.  It's about a women that overcomes years of a painful, abusive past to help other women find Christ through there pain and abuse.  I devoured this book and it touched me deeply.

Divine is a great book.  I couldn't put novel down till I was finish.  The main character in the book was a present day Mary Magalene.

Karen Kingsbury wrote about a very sensitive problem in the world.  The character was in abusive relationship throughout her life(childhood to adult).  She was able to overcome the situations with the help of our loving and forgiving GOD!!

Karen's books are about imperfect people in an imperfect world. Sometimes they are people who have made major mistakes in their lives; but they come to realize God's forgiveness.
Maybe one of the best things is that you don't have to waddle through pages of sexual descriptions and bad language.
I highly recommend Karen's books.

Divine was wonderful. Yes, it was difficult to imagine (even though the book is fiction) living through this type of abuse and coming out a better person at the end! Karen's books are life changing. They aren't all flowery and a bed of roses. They actually deal with the challenges that we as Christians face every day.
