This is one of our favorite places to visit and we live in Orlando. The best part about staying at the campgrounds is that you can stay right at Ft. Wilderness and not have to leave. We stayed in one of the cabins on off season and brought our own food. The cabins sleep 6 people via bunk bed, queen bed and then a pull out sofa. There is a full kitchen, refrigerator, deck and grill. You drive your car right up to the cabin.
If you have little ones, I highly recommend because you can have the children sleep in the room (close the door) while you can go into the living room area and watch tv. Hard to do in a regular hotel.
The campgrounds have stables, pony rides, fishing, a beach, playground, arcade, pool and fishing.
If you are able to, go to Hoop De Doo. It is well worth the money and a fun night for all ages. They have some slight adult humor in the show that kids won't get, but are goofy enough that the kids love it. The food is endless and the best fried chicken and ribs ever!
