Contemporary Resort makes good on its name
I stayed in this hotel about 1975, not too long after it opened. It was cool and exciting, as a teen, to see the monorail come whooshing through the center of the hotel. When I went back this summer to see how the hotel could justify its name, I expected the worst. Disney proved me wrong. I previewed a sampling of guest rooms at Grand Floridian, Wilderness Lodge & Contemporary - and Contemporary was by FAR the nicest room. We have a teenage son with Down Syndrome and were quite nervous about taking him to Disneyworld. We picked the Contemporary Resort because of the location and the access to the Monorail. I researched this vacation to the point where I felt I could begin a new career as a travel agent. When speaking with the people at Disneyworld, I let them know we had a special needs child and at this point everyone became much more helpful. Our son has trouble walking great distances. I was told there are wheel chairs available at the parks, but they would have to be returned at the park gates. Not knowing...
