The DIsney Cruise was fantastic! If you have children, they can be checked into a program early in the morning and picked up late at night, OR you can join them for different activities during the day! Parents are given a beeper in case your child needs you for an emergency. This gives parents the opportunity to have quiet, private alone-time! There are incredible restaurants on board and you rotate to a new restaurant every night, but your waiter travels WITH you, so they get to know your likes and dislikes. They were great at encouraging both our children and ourselves to try new things. If you have a finicky eater, they will accomodate ANYTHING your child wants...just say it, and they will make it! There is also an adult only, ROMANTIC gourmet Northern Italian restaurant, which is perfect for a special night out (included with the cruise, so it was a nice indulgence that we "could afford").
Entertainment is for EVERYONE...early shows are "family" shows with Broadway style musical with the characters. Comedy shows are GREAT, with an early family show and a late night, more risque adult dialog (it was so good!).The characters make many appearances for the children and you can even have your child hear bedtime stories read to them by Princesses! (Yet, as an adult, it is easy to not even know you are on a Disney ship...plenty of non-Disney things to do, like cooking classes, ballroom dance classes, etc). We LOVED the tour of the bridge! There are even separate pools, a kiddie pool, a family pool and an adults only pool!
While we didn't particularly care for the stop in the Bahamas, we LOVED Disney's private island Castaway Cay...they have the ship from Pirates of the Carribean moored offshore, making for some great photo opportunities. You can also snorkel, or float on a raft. There are separate beaches for families, and one for adults only (called Serenity Bay) and they are far enough apart, that at the adult Beach, it is absolutely quiet, with massages available shoreside!
We took the 7 day cruise at another time and LOVED the islands of St. Thomas, St. Martin and re-visiting Castaway Cay.
